It's the same way as for Panthers and Tigers. You can bombard them first, stun crew, smoke assisting units. You need to lure him into a trap. AT guns shouldn't be placed in bushes just after reaching battlefield. You could store them just behind hedgegrow and push into action in right moment.
I've killed King Tiger assisted with Panthers in that way:
First bombard them with artillery. Next smoke what's behind him to cut-off his recon units field of view. Next bombard them with bombers and rocket planes (few in a row). Next pushing 17 pdrs from two different directions- from front and side. In the meantime Wolverines (tank destroyers) coming to hit from both sided. Shermans providing distraction in false flank maneuver.
It works decently (but I never kill them).
Thanks for the tip! Hopefully I can now start killing them.
You have to hit it with rockets or bombs, or artillery spam, in order to make it panic. Do so repeatedly, so that it can't be a major threat, as you move forces into a flanking position. If it is in an open field and you cannot fight it straight-on, hide your forces and force it to come to you.
I've killed a King Tiger by having a teammate bomb it repeatedly, and then advancing on it with two M10 tank destroyers who had enough repeated shots to keep it pinned, and eventually penetrate the armor. If you can't prevent it from shooting however, it's better to simply hide your forces from it.
Fighting it in the open, frontally, is the worst possible idea. Given how expensive King Tigers are though, you can usually just hide your forces around it and just attack from other angles.
Suppress it, and only attack it if you can manage to get forces into an ambush position. Never attempt to fight it head-on with other vehicles, unless you are close enough to penetrate its armor with a good Allied tank - and it is also suppressed, so it can't just one-shot all of your vehicles.
Like he said. Combined arms.
Suppress them and move in your 17pd guns to snipe them. Achilles, Firefly, AT guns.
It's 380 points for a KT. 380 points buys you a hella respectable combined-arms force.
You have two tanks and some artillery in middle of Phase C? Save your forces and not throw them recklessly at the enemy during first, two phases.
