People post a lot, but you might have noticed they never give any real information
I'm kind of in the same boat right now. I tried him at around level 60 or so, right after loosing to him to rewind time. He didn't heal, and my first set of fever-ish attacks actually took off some HP. And then, I even survived his first hit!
Apparently, the Time Eater noticed that I might have a chance to finish him off, so he changed his attacks to something that deals 5 digits to one-shot everyone. I actually gave up on wanting to transform, buff or heal them back up since transformed + defensive cheer makes no difference. Also, nothing does damage anymore; even when I brought up the fever gauge again.
So yeah I just Alt-F4-ed out of the battle at that point; I'm just hoping that more levels can change something...
Yes it is normal. That fight is meant to be more or less unwinable.
In reality, there is more to fighting the time eater than it would first seem.
Throughout the game there are side quests that you have to complete.
HOWEVER, all the side quests are timed and there simply is not enough time to finish all of them on any one run.
When a quest's timer expires, that quest is "eaten" by the time eater, granting it a buff. The more quests the time eater "eats", the stronger it becomes.
On your first run, you'll only be able to complete a very small fraction of all the quests, so the time eater will be basically invulnerable when you first face it.
After you lose your first fight against the time eater, time rewinds and you start your second playthrough in which the quests are reset.
HOWEVER, only the quests the time eater ate are reset, not the ones you completed, so now you have a chance to complete some more of them, meaning the time eater gets weaker and weaker the more quests you complete.
THAT is why people are able to beat it at lvl 30. They basically throw the first fights against it and just power through the quests, until the time eater is so weak you simply cannot lose against it anymore.
It also doesn't hurt that:
A. Dreamycast has one of the most damaging attacks in game;
B. Segami can then copy Dreamycast's attack, while adding her own stats on top.
That doesn't help those having trouble.
Oh yea I know you don't have to tell me I figured that out myself, I was just saying his post wasn't helping.
