As such, KOF14 was never going to be as fluidly animated as KOF2K2 or even KOF13. The people making KOF14 didn't have the experience or the knowledge necessary. They also very likely didn't have the budget, and particularly not with a 50 character roster. If this had been a 16 character game, you'd likely have seen better animation, because the dev team could have spent more time and resources on every character. As is, you can see quality differences within the KOF14 roster because some characters simply received much less time and polish than others, in addition to the creators' own skills changing over the course of development.
It may take a few years and a few iterations for SNK to catch up with other companies in the realm of 3D graphics. Even then, they'll probably still lag behind games with smaller rosters (as even 2D KOF titles didn't match the quality present in other smaller roster 2D titles.) You probably won't see a 3D KOF that rivals what Arc System Works continues to do with Guilty Gear. You might eventually get something close to what Capcom manages with Street Fighter, but that is in part because Capcom seems to be cutting back and cutting corners. (Animation that rivals Netherealm is entirely possible, but that is because Netherealm cuts more corners than anyone else when it comes to actual move animation.)
Some characters do have "animation on clothes"
Anyway, if you play fighting games to see a jacket move on screen, you're doing it wrong sorry.
But anyway, SNK has been through many problems all these years it surprised me to see 50 characters. I hoped the steam version would fix the graphics a bit.
Personally I prefer a game well finished and with fewer characters than one badly finished and with a lot of them.
All you say about the return of SNK, it's ok that they present their modest game to return to the video game industry, but they haven't done it in a modest way.
The price that it has, is for an AAA finished game, like Teken, for example. But it is not their case. It's a game that is more near of indie games.
If you support them and pay the overprice,It's ok, It is a very respectable position for help a company that is starting again.
But if they want my support, they must adjust the price to the quality that they offer in their product and when they make a product that worth 70€ then I will buy it for that price.
Sorry, but I'm not a NGO to do charity.
Maybe, but with keyboar the experience is not very good. Fail a lot, especially when you hold down key to do special movements. I didn't try to use pad because, for me, in this game is more easy make the combos with keyboard. Of course is a betta and they will fix it.
You won't get far playing this game with a keyboard
Buying a used controller works better
Incorrect. Fighting games like this have digital inputs... on or off. A keyboard (and Hitbox) are actually extremely viable ways to play fighting games... to the point where some people think something like a Hitbox is cheap.
Thinking keyboard is a bad way to play fighting games is just a misunderstanding of how the inputs work in these kind of games, so it's funny when people are like "LOL PLAYING WITH A KEYBOARD" when they're actually extremely optimal for fighting games.
And this is coming from an arcade stick player, I'm not some salty keyboard player... I just understand the core of fighting game inputs.
The main reason is just ease of use. Doing circles on keyboards just requires some practice; I'm not saying it can't be done because some very good tournement players have used keyboards with great effeciency in the past but for the average joe I think a fightstick or gamepad is more easy to use with the cost of a little bit of speed in comparison to the keyboard warrior.
No one ever thinks that the hitbox is cheap. It was at some point because back then in Marvel 3, you can block both directions together by pressing forward + back which essentially eliminated all forms of side switch setups.
I got into kof because of their style, but they're gone so I'll probably look for something else that has passion in them.
How about this, let's mod it after release.
not sure about this though, the engine is their own.
I could work on texture and some animations(without interfering the hit-boxes and timings). not expert in 3d development, but hella sure I could still make a better job than this.
The models aren't reused and actually look quite good in HD; I think it's just off putting by the fact that they aren't over stylistic and much more realisticly perportioned than most other fighting games.
