How to play offline

If you still want to play the game offline, follow these simplified steps:

1. Open the Steam Console tab.
2. Type "download_depot 570460 570461 8597203258519743951". Press Enter.
3. Open the depot folder. Copy everything inside.
4. Open the Local Games folder for Laser League. Delete all contents. Paste from the dept folder.
5. Open game. You'll know you did it right if it's ©2018.
6. It will take a minute as it tries to pull your online profile up. When it fails, select "No" to not retry. The game should still open.

Local match will also work with Steam Remote play. Have fun.

considering fans have made decommissioned games playable again, perhaps those geniuses could be persuaded to emulate the server locally for this one? All progress seems to have been saved, so if only the offline mode could unlock its xp restriction, it would seem it's possible to earn everything.

On my old pc, this guide works. But on the newer one it crashs at the starting screen. Is there an alternative oder fix for that problem?

Could be an issue with a specific hardware or driver. I tried it on a brand new PC with Windows 11, it worked like a charm.

Try adding this launch option in steam for Laser League:

cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%"

You'll see a black command prompt window pop up but you can either leave it or minimize it.

Seems to be a bug with newer processors and an OpenSSL library.

For us, it is working, but when we get into the local game, the team selection gets very glitchy. When we hit "A" on a controller to join, two players are added. And you can't remove the extra players to start the game, as far as we can tell. If anyone knows how to solve this, I'd be greatful.

Fixed it! All that was necessary was changing controller API in the menu. I switched the setting to "direct," and instantly good to go!
