Is there a way to actively swap weapons?

Title. I picked two bad weapons I can't use properly and one good one, but accidentally picked up a powerup that changed into one of the bad ones, and died 4 times from that. Is there a way to change weapon yourself or is it automatic, and if it's automatic, why the ♥♥♥♥?

No, this goes against the game's design. You are supposed to learn to use all three weapon colors and switch colors at certain intervals; by the end of the game, all three weapon colors should be lv10.

Try some of the different weapons for each color. The Reflect Laser (blue) and Catch Plasma (purple) tend to be highly rated.

I like how you complain about this supposed "stiff idea of difficulty", yet with your original post you imply that the developers should have catered to your specific preferences.

I wasn't saying they need to cater to my preferences, nor bashing people who play the game and are good at it. I was simply saying it's kinda a bad model because people who don't know any better and are trying out weapons are going to get screwed over a lot and that discourages them from playing. Please don't put words in my mouth and take things way out of context.

if your useing that crystal beam thing use it on the weaker bad guys ,i find it more useful on them ,but its a pain in the butt laser weapon ,that does require some skill too use it and a bit of practise

That's good advice if I could swap weapons on the fly, but in this game you can't so I ended up having to struggle through a boss with it because it swapped to it just before the boss fight. Which is honestly what prompted this post to begin with. Died like 5 times to it, got sick of it, made the post, got trash talked (which honestly why did I expect any different), uninstalled, never looked back.

This is just incorrect. I asked if it were possible, because I literally got screwed over because the option doesn't exist. And yes I'm not going to play it anymore because of that. But that's my choice, it has no effect on you so what's it matter?

Posts dating back to 9/2020 are on the front page of Raiden 5 forum, while your last post was from 1/2021. So in all fairness, he didn't really dug that deep as you would think. Shmups are apparently niche nowadays with rather small turnover reflected by lower forum activity, so your original question might actually stand the test of time and be with us for evermore on these forums. Yup, I know the feels!
