Numerous missing mission items
Hi, so I'm fairly new to the game, but addicted and restarted the game a few times because I notice that certain items don't show up such as when I'm Delores; There isn't a gas can the few times I've played through nor can I interact with the wood pile. The other example I have is the missing receipt from Chuck's room. i tried to restart the game doing everything exactly as I should and these items are still MIA. Anyone else have this issue?

Hello,

if you're playing on Casual Mode, then certain puzzles are either removed or changed, so the related items can also be missing.

Thanks for the reply, but it seems I can't go any further without certain items.
For instance, Delores needs a receipt in order to get a new arresttron Tube and it isn't there. Or Franklin can't leave the hotel without freaking out an apparent non-existent guest.
I'm at a loss and I love this game, but I can't even finish it because of these issues.

On which mode are you playing (you can find that out when loading save games - do they say "Casual Mode")? In case you're playing on Casual and are following a Hard Mode walkthrough, for example, then that can be a source of a lot of confusion. Since some puzzles and items are removed from Casual Mode altogether.

Have you tried dialling the in-game hint line (4468)? That should provide you contextual hints on what tasks you should focus on next.

I am on Casual, but I'm just having difficulty completing the 3rd chapter without these particular items, otherwise I can't figure out how to proceed.
I do use the help line whenever I can, but it doesn't give me what I'm looking for.

On Casual Mode, the receipt (and other items) are not needed, since, for example, the whole puzzle chain with the tube puller is not present. The solutions are generally simplified when playing on Casual, but if you completed the Hard Mode playthrough first, it may lead to some confusion. If you're unsure what to do, then I'd suggest repeatedly dialling the help line (the more times you ask about a particular puzzle you're stuck on, the more hints you'll receive).

Generally, just be prepared that some puzzles that you had to solve on Hard Mode are removed from Casual Mode altogether. I see that someone made a walkthrough here on Steam where the Hard Mode solutions are marked as spoilers: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=897134002
