Arcade Tokens
Okay. I'm looking around the world, but I can't find any new items or anything to start finding the tokens. Can anyone give me some tips? Or at least tell me if I can't do it from a new save (I'm loading a "just got into the factory" save.

you can do it from your current save

I'm currently looking for them myself, but here's what I've seen:

One of the notes outside the newspaper building mentioned one of the games by name, albeit not quite a name that appears in the arcade. But close enough. The game in question is out of order.

The token machine says something about giving tokens to high scorers. (I think that's where that came from, anyhow.)

When I had Delores talk to Leonard (who struck me as the two most likely to be involved with the arcade), Leonard suggested that Delores has the high scores on the games.

I don't see any tokens in Delores' room, nor have I noticed them anywhere else around the house.

Delores's Out of Order sign isn't usable with other objects, apparently. So I guess the puzzle doesn't have anything to do with adding/removing out of order signs from games.

So, I'm currently wandering around as Delores, looking for...anything. She still can't get anything from the bank (as far as I can tell), she can't remove the tube from the token machine, no other closed buildings that I've tried as of yet seem to have anything new to say about having tokens in them. So...I'm running into a whole lot of nothing, so far.

I'm about to go head back to the woods to follow the navigator head, to see if there's a new treasure at the end of that sequence. My expectations are low.

[Follow-up] ...and now that I've found the tokens, I'm wondering if I missed a clue that would have pointed me toward them. I feel like I just stumbled across them by trying whatever came to mind.

I'm assuming that you are playing on Hard mode, not on Casual.

Here are a few very vague hints. My suggestion is to read just one of them and ignore the others unless you're desperate. ;)

First hint: Keep looking around for things that weren't there before the last update. Visit again ALL locations.

Second hint: Are you sure that you are not skipping any location? Sometimes some characters skip some locations when they use the map.

Third hint: You have to find a specific new object. It's in plain sight, if you visit that location. You just need to observe the scene carefully.

Fourth hint: The way this new object is used should be quite obvious. You just need to understand "with what" this new object should be used.

I'll use spoiler tags so that nobody gets too explicit hints.

There is a point in the game in which a character gets a brand new version of an object that he already owns. At that point in the game it's easy for a new player to hypothesize that it could be possible to take the old version of the object. Actually, several players made this hypothesis in the past, when it wasn't already possible to find/get that object.

other hints guys? i really don't know where to start

Here, I'll try one.

You can't start the quest until after the will reading. If you haven't gotten that far yet, you'll never find it. Also, you can't be playing on Casual mode.

Hey look, Delores got a lousy T-shirt! Even Doug got a better gift with a brand new shovel. Hmmm...he was digging with a shovel before he got the new one. I wonder where the old one went?.

If you're looking for the first item...

The trip to the crypt was the only time Doug ever left the mansion. Maybe he disposed of the other shovel around the mansion's grounds.

If you've got the first item, but want to know what to do with it...

Well, what else do you do with a shovel. What we really need is a place to dig.

If you know what to do with the item, but need to know another item we need...

Like so many other things in this game, it's a reference to Monkey Island. A magic severed head would lead you, without fail, to a treasure. However, Guybrush had no way to dig. Well, we do. Now where could we find a magic severed head?

If you have both items, but want to know where to go...

Well, we need a place where no one would ever really go, where we could get lost. We were getting lost in the woods trying to find that secret hideout. Let's try there. Keep your eye on the severed head in your inventory.

If you've reached the location...

Pirate treasure, right? Well, doesn't X mark the spot. Look closely at the paler colored ground

I'm sorry if my hints were vague on purpose. :)

Not all people like to receive "hints" that contain explicitly the name of objects to get, places to go and actions to do. Since I didn't know how much vague the original poster wanted the hints to be, I decided to provide to him just the generic suggestion "visit all places and search for a new object", which of course is not very useful to other people.

Thanks to NickNack for providing more explicit hints. :)

I do believe you MUST have annoying in-jokes option ON in options, to get the head to work.
