1- I though the same, but you should give the card to someone else on town
2- Try to pick up something in that room...
3- Have delores visit her dad :)
I am putting everything in spoilers on this! :)
For Ransome For Ransome you need to go to Sandy at the Diner and give her the card.
Sandy gives Ransome another backflash story and gives him a chance to redeem himself in not insulting but making nice jokes for people. Is your choice to prove you understood his task or not
For Ray You just needed to pickup the document in front of the developers display where you gave the trophy because that is the secret of the AI (game) which is the puzzle dependancy chart to finish
For Franklin You need to take Delores in the Special Room in the penthouse and have Franklin confront the big boss and get the Crystal so you can say your goodbyes to Delores. Then Delores needs to go to the river
Also for Rayes He is the only one who can free Willie ..get the pun.. so before taking the information to the newspaper pass by the Sheriff and open the jail door. The other characters will not do it
Hope that explains!
I mean I instinctivly did Delores last because the game pretty much tells you, you will be unable to do anything else after she did her thing.
So maybe it was done that way on purpose to punish players who weren´t paying attention, hehe.
That´s true, I noticed you´re being very generous with the autosaves (though I haven´t found out if there is a timer or a certain other trigger for that).
For instance even if you did not listen to Delores before blowing up the mansion, you wouldn´t have to do too much backtracking anyway as the last autosave most likey was not that long ago, it wasn´t in my case anyways
Having said that I´m still surprised this (skipping the resolutions for the other characters) happened to so many players, as in the context of the game it´s obvious you´re supposed to do Delores last.
If you look back at some of the trailers there is several stuff that was either changed or was done purposedly for the trailers because it looks cool, like you see Franklin floating inside the factory or Delores spitting fire into the pentagram of the secret room. Or both agents being present at the meeting. I´m sure there is more.
So it´s save to say that´s just one of many things that were done for the trailers that are not in the game, just like in movie trailers(especially nowadays), really.
Autosaves are *usually* done as soon as you enter a new location. The exception might be if you're entering that location within a cutscene, or we've intentionally temporarily turned off autosaves for gameplay purposes.
Say David now that I have your attention, something I wanted to ask you like...well almost all my life actually is do you know the Time Life Book series "Mysteries of the Unknown"? I remember my family subscribed to them about the time I first played Zak McKracken and at the time I was blown away because I looked at the books and was like "Wow that stuff in the game all really exists" The X Files and similar stuff was a few years down the road (and I don´t think "In Search Of" ever aired in germany) so those two things simulatously introduced me to all those paranormal concepts. I still enjoy all that stuff but I´m more into James Randi than David Spangler these days. Zak was a lot of fun, thanks for that!
Interestingly, for years after completing Zak, while at the checkout stand of the grocery store, I'd see stories in the headlines straight out of the game (or people would forward me stories they've read). I think we tapped into something, considering the popularity of X-files!
And thanks! If you haven't seen it yet, check out http://zak-site.com -- a fan-created site all about Zaki.
As far as influence goes I know Total Recall is based on an old Phillip K D-i-c-k story, but the idea of a button push filling Mars with air reminds me a lot of Zak.
And Prometheus. A crew that brings an archeologist on a space mission who can read hyroglyphs and then find out they can breathe inside a big pyramid construction? All elements from Zak.
I think what made Zak special was that while all those things were very present in movies and books at the time most games were either straight up space operas or middle aged fantasy stuff and Zak stood out among all those with a very distinct style. And on top of that it was very funny, I couldn´t imagine Ghostbusters being all serious (I think I´ve read that actually was the plan at some point) so that was a good decision too.
And I love that fan site, the front page is great and the "real world" part is very interesting.
I just laughed at the irony of tabloids claiming intellectual property, while presenting their stories to be actual fact.
When I got to this bit and I realised I couldn't switch back to the other characters, the game had already autosaved and my previous save game was 45 minutes prior to starting the end game. Personally, I'd say it was a bad design choice.
Exactly, the game already warns you to save before you press the button on that one inventory device (which does end the game when you press it), not sure why it wouldn't do the same here.
