Reyes on the autopsy table (warning: potential spoilers)

I don't remember exactly when in the game this happened, but I know it was relatively late, when suddenly there was a cutscene in which Reyes was on the autopsy table, and then he became unavailable for a while, and when he became available again he was near the door to the Coroner's Office.

What was that? What happened to him? Who got him there? I've finished the game and these questions were not answered.

The only potential explanation is that it's a flashback and it happened after he got kidnapped, but that doesn't explain why he became unavailable to play as for a while.

I experienced that too. It was very sudden and weird. Earlier in the game, before I unlocked the other three characters, I walked into the coroner's office and found a sheet covered in a body. When I lifted the sheet up, it turned out that the coroner was just having a little nap. When that weird Reyes oddity occurred with me, I immediately went to the coroner's office to see what happened. There was no body there. I just kept playing and he came back not too long after.

I sort of just decided that he too wished to have a little nap...

I am also confused about this, played through the game in hard mode and this was so unexpected and out of place so I was worried (still am) that it was a bug. Posted about it in the bug thread. It was not just Reyes on the table, it was also the coroner standing there and I believe also Ray?
It happened while I was doing things with Delores in the penthouse secret room that had no connection at all with the cut scene as far as I can see.
Would love to hear a good epxlanation for this, or a confirmation that it is a bug/glitch.

My Theory is that the Upper World decided there was a glitch or something and needed to reset or restart the character for some reason or another

I don't know why, but it happens when you don't use a character for a long time. For me, it happened with Ray.

I wonder if it's the start of some elaborate easter egg, an obscure clue for some action we can do to expose it.

It's not a bug or a glitch. And that wasn't Ray standing by, it was Ricki. Who knows what they did to Reyes/Ray...

I think you mean a body covered in a sheet. Anyway, can you confirm that you saw it in-game? Because it's part of Ransome trailer: are you sure memory is not playing bad jokes? :)

Yes, this is an in-game cut scene. I don't know if there's any playable reference to this.

Not directly, but Reyes disappears for a while. And you can see the coroner lurking in the hall if you time it right. It seems like they're all related.

As said in another thread, I think this cutscene is a poke at Maniac Mansion for having similar cutscenes (the scenes were used to show the interactions between Dr. Fred and Sandy) or Day of The Tentacle (cutscenes were used to give hints for the player in what to do next) or it was a cut scene that showed what happened to the agent after being knocked out by the diner. In my playthrough, it was Ray who was knocked out and dragged into the sewers even though I still had the cutscene with Reyes. Perhaps it is a bug that only displays Reyes being on the table as opppose to the agent that was knocked out in your playthrough - David Fox said Reyes/Ray implying it is can be either, yet everyone here had gotten the Reyes cutscene.

I don't remember that much. I know I was Agent Ray. I think I was going to input something into one of the tron machines.

That wouldn't explain why they get unavailable for the player for a while after the cutscene, and appear again next to the coroner's door later.
