I'm somehow having food shortages even though I'm getting positive food returns and my kingdom is literally filled with markets, what more can I do to fix this?

If you really do have enough crops & other sources, you may have done the same mistake as I once did: you temporarily allocated less jobs to crops and forgot to restore it.

I remember I kept wondering why I kept adding more crops and that wouldn't fix the problem - they were just not manned and useless.

Turns out I just needed even more markets, I also scattered small markets around wherever they'd fit. So many markets...

Can we see a screenshot of your markets? My last kingdom only had literally one that successfully supported about 900 people, so I don't think you should need a high number... As long as they got proper distribution, your people should be getting their goods.

I'm at 5.5k, I'd imagine at 900 people your population would be much closer to the farms/granaries so a market wouldn't be necessary.

5.5K is certainly an impressive number... I'm not sure if a market on every corner is necessary, since I can still manage 3000 without spamming them; but still, you got your solution.
