To send merchants, you first need to visit them and ask them to open their ports to commerce with you (or wait until they send an envoy to your keep to ask you to open your ports, doesn't matter who does it). This will prompt you to discuss the prices of ressources that you will sell them, and the prices of what they sell you.
Once that's done, get a merchant ship, and set up the trade route between your desired dock and theirs.
To use carts/cargo/merchant ships. Build it, click on it, click and drag the end of the lines that pop up onto the places you want the ship/cart to pick up and drop off ressources to. Once you have the places selected, you can choose how many ressources are picked up and dropped off at each point. Also you can add more than two storage places on the trade route with the little + icon.
How do you make the ship pick up resources from the other kingdom?? All My ship does is pick it up from my own port and sails to the destinations.
And I can't seem to select anything from the AI's port. It only tells me "They want more Xxxx" and what resources they are trying to sell.
