I just made them 3 high for defences
They're honestly not much easier, and IMO it's literally better to have no walls at all than wood walls given how totally useless they are.
Yes. Only useable as base for solo archers tower, not as "wall"
even if they delay its like a chain reaction and your whole wall is on fire and then your whole building
and while your people try to extinguish the wodden walls all your houses burn down to the ground
Yea in general situations you are way better off with no wall at all
Early on stone is a lot slower to get when u just have one ore 2 quearys
Wood is a lot easyer to get and u can olways drop down a forestry closer to where u need to build lowering the walking distance a lot
Making it easyer to build a quik wall when u are claiming land for a new big settlement or something
And a cheap wooden wall can make it so that 1 or 2 towers destory a viking group before they kill or kidnap ppl. Where without a wall u would need more towers costing u a lot more stone and money
but other than individual towers, and/or if you like the asthetic, i agree, they're kinda useless
But taken into consideration how the AI works, you can effectively block whole sections and tunnel Viking raiders to the towers you have, without them setting anything on fire.
First: Vikings can only set something on fire if they have normal troops in their groups left. If only the flag holder of the group survived (which has the most HP) they doesn't set anything on fire.
Second: Vikings groups attempt to reach a road of yours and follow them while burning everything alongside.
So the solution is simple. Leave one tile between your road and your wooden wall. Put archer towers alongside your wooden wall and as soon as the Vikings travel along the road they get shot so the group can't set anything on fire, even if the group leader still survived.

This is an early screenshot of one of my latest hard mode runs. The wooden wall is still standing well after 100 years into the game and only some ogres destroy one or two walls per raid.
