Drawbridge

So i've been looking for a video on youtube that can explain how it works but there ain't none... So i started my first game yesterday and found a map seed that i loved. It has a big island with a bigger piece of land half surrounding it. And there i started my build on the smaller island because there my castle would look coolest with the settlments around it, and then after some time i would build over to the bigger piece of land and make thousands of farms and what not, but now when i'm trying to either build a Bridge or most importantly a Drawbridge, i can't because i can't build on Deep water which is what there is between the 2 pieces of land... So the question i have for this, is: How do i make a Bridge/Drawbridge to the other side? Or can i even do that?

Mhm i dont think so, u cant build at deep water in this game. Maybe you should build around it.

Would love to do that but it's deep water all the way between them...
So for now i'm guessing i'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on that regard

You can’t build anything on Deep Water, so if there isn’t any other access to the other islands by normal (shallow) water then you need to construct an outpost there (it will then act as a new kingdom, kinda) then build docks to connect them for transport of materials.

Yea tha'ts what i've done it just kinda sucks that you can't connect them bridge wise... Ruins my idea for construction

from the gif it only really shows them in shallow water tho
