Old Age Deaths (113r11s)
Year 400, Beds 400 (been keeping my population low and experimenting with building combinations/projects)

Over the past 50 or so years the number of villagers I have dying from old age is becoming a serious issue.

This most recent occurance had over 120 of my perfectly healthy, fed, and happy population die out from under me.

Working with a low population city means that losing a quarter of my workforce is crippling and it takes a great deal of effort to get back on my feet.

I don't know if its related but I seem to notice this after every Dragon attack. I'll fight off the dragons and be super happy with the lack of damage to my infrastructure/fire fighting efforts the villagers put in. Only to suddenly see that I've lost somewhere around 80-100 villagers. Then I get the old age notification and my graveyard is suddenly packed with bodies, or full.

Does anyone else have this problem? I've seen threads about it in the past but supposedly it was an issue that was 'fixed'. Am I just gonna have to live with 20-35% of my population dying during the same year from old age? I can handle die off if its staggered but happening all at once is crippling my game.

I also have the same problem in year 150. Every 2/3 dragon attacks (so every 18 years or so) roughly 1/2 to 2/3 of my population dies of old age, causing my cemetary to become full and severly crippling my economy. Note that I also try to keep my population in check and not grow bigger than 365.

Can you send me your save games where this happens and I'll check it out?

Saves are in %AppData%\..\LocalLow\LionShield\Kingdoms and Castles\Saves\, email to contact@lionshieldstudios.com and leave a little note.

I had the same issue in my latest playthrough (before the Halloween update)

Every dragon attack where he breathes fire and attacks my kingdom I got a "# number of people died of old age" message after the dragon attack was over.
But I noticed, that the population actually declined while the dragon attacked with fire on the roads, farms and houses.

So I assume that it's a translation error and the dragon is actually killing all my people. After I upgraded my defences and the dragons get killed before they breath fire I never got trouble with this rapid decline in population.

If my observations are true than I think the dragon attacks early on are too strong, because they are killing so many people with a single attack and your defences are to slow to kill it in time. Really crippling with a low population (early game) on hard mode, especially with the new cemetery feature.

Thanks for the saves! Like DarkThief Dark discovered, it is in fact the dragon killing people and it's being erroneously reported as old age deaths.

In the next update we'll have fixes for both: deaths by dragons will be reported correctly and the dragon won't be so brutally punishing.
