I'm curious...why do people build archers? I haven't found a use for them except to build one or two until I can afford a ballista. After that there seems no purpose to a archer towers as their power is so weak and ballistas have essentially no downsides.
I'm playing on hard and am spread pretty thin on wall and tower coverage. I noticed ballista have a very slow turn around and aiming spreed. I can get more bang for buck with the archer tower because I can have fewer of them covering more ground.
That way while the dragon flys by not stopping the archer tower is able to do some damage. I've watched the ballista tower not be able to make a shot because of the speed and timing.
Don't really know how to upload screenshots on steam, so there's an external link: https://www.bilder-upload.eu/upload/c4c880-1538770179.jpg
Marked tower is 11 units high. Higher than 11 units doesn't improve the range of weaponery any more.
To be honest - Towers too high don't look great anyway.
In the beta, which should be a patch release soon, archers are now good vs vikings and wolves. The Ballistas are good vs Dragons and the trolls.
I usually build double towers with one of each, that way they support each other. Then I build my towers to have over lapping fields of fire.
