No Wood, Like, Ever
I have been playing this game for five hours and I have restarted so many tmes. The highest population I have gotten to was 220 people. The reason I keep doing so poorly is because I run out of forrests to quickly and never have enough wood for more buildings. Any suggestions?

Yes, they regrow. Also, trees naturally spawn in clearings around other trees, just very slowly. If you're bored enough, stare at trees in the new game menu and you'll eventually catch one animating as if it was unshrinking.

Okay awesome. I love forests in games like this. I was afraid we'd always be limited. I really like having the open landscape fill in. I hope they add like a gardener or plant nursery so you can plant trees and hedges in areas.

If you pay attention when the foresters are working then you'll notice they do selective harvesting. Cutting down only a single tree in a square. It says they plant but I think it's just the natual way the trees grow. So if you cut them all down then they won't work.

Unless you're playing on speed 3 / fastest speed, you probably wont notice. But if you leave 1 tree patch in an area and come back you'll notice its grown into multiple patches, etc.. It just takes a while. The foresters dont clear the entire patch when they chop trees like your peasants do when you order them to chop a square. They cut down 1 of the 3-4 trees on that tile and then move on so every tree is continuously regrowing

More foresters. I have 9 foresters and I have a population of 1100

I know your problem is with the trees regrowing but for those who are simply not getting enough wood, having a blacksmith that's crafting tools for your forestry helps immensely.

I've also taken to placing 3-4 Foresters near as possible to one another around a smaller forest to optimize Resource Cut/Regrowth Rate. After some time you can actually fill in an area with trees.

There was a beta release of the patch where forestry was bugged. It is fixed now. Make sure you're version is up to date. Getting enough wood is no problem, as others have said.

Wood seems to be an issue after recent patch. I build 20 foresters and it produce wood equal to 5 foresters pre patch. Something wrong there.

foresters work just fine if you don't overload the surrounding trees, i completely walled in my wood supply last night and had no issues for quite a while with the castle.

Make sure that you dont put a forestry where there's no trees. I dont think the forestry will plant trees where there aren't any originally.

They should.

The forester hut only replants trees when fully staffed, did you have 3 workers in the building?

I've gotten a city to 2000, but even I realize the trees are a problem, even if I use forester in crowded forests, they slowly but surely empty up, and I end up with no trees. They should make a way to plant trees, maybe an item that costs gold that u can buy from merchant ships;

Foresters should regrow trees, even if there aren't any near them (for example if you manually cut them all down).

Can you send me the save game where you have emptied foresters? Saves are in C:\users\yourname\appdata\locallow\LionShield, email to contact@lionshieldstudios.com

Forestry surrounded by sufficient trees never runs out as far as I can tell. Trees also just regrow on their own as well I noticed.

Clear felling will put you in a position of not enough and never having enough trees, careful management on the other hand seems to produce masses of wood from 2 or 3 Forestry huts with no real reduction in trees.
Each forestry hut produces ~25 lumber per year. Three or four combined with careful clearcutting will leave you with plenty of wood. Trees left alone will grow an entire square and then slowly spread outwards, while foresters will plant trees faster as long as at least one patch of trees is within their area of effect. If you have the room to spare, leaving a forest at the further reaches of your kingdom and occaisionally clearcutting a patch of it works, and when you grow towards it you can put a few foresters inside it to keep it running.
