Combat is frustrating
Ok, combat is quite lack luster.

-Fox/goblin comes to eat me
-I hack away at it, spamming foods to try and keep my health up
-Animal runs as soon as it gets to 1/2 health, running off into the trees where I can't see it.
-tags a full health buddy to come attack me and run off more of my food and I don't get squat because it will run again.

The animals can run far faster than I can and they will chase you forever. I can't though. That's important. In what game is this fun? Are there boots or something later on where this becomes fun and I can run faster than them?

Really don't like being forced to run after multiple goblins with a single cudgel until I can actually do anything in the game.... :death:

I agree the combat needs much work, its clunky and probably the games worst mechanic/feature... I had to take break from playing because I was tired chasing goblins for coins.

Yea Combat is one of the weakest sofar. Once a enemy runs off screen it's pretty much gone for me, I have never found it again.

Your character moves faster as you level up, but as you journey further from your base, the animals also get higher level. I wonder if their movement speed goes up too lol As for them running away, I think the whole idea is you need to catch them with a trap and tame them so they can produce components to cook food. If you wanted to hunt them for their meat I'd suggest using a ranged weapon.

Put some obstacles between yourself and the enemy youre running from, that is often enough to make em loose track of you.

Also, even though you cant really dodge hits with your slow movement, you can make them miss you if you fight near an ostacle. After striking, just move slightly to the side so they hit the obstacle instead of you.

If you have to run, always run back the way you came.

Not saying the combat is great, but it works alright and isn't unfair. You just need to be a bit careful – so far I havent died at all.

I don't have traps or ranged weapons. I thought that was fairly obvious by complaining that the game sets you out looking for several tokens' worth of goblins armed with a cudgel and no clothes.

I haven't died yet because I'm careful, but this is decidedly not fun.

Yea, the foxes and boars running when they are 1 hit away from death needs to be taken out. It is BS.

You get faster as you level. Gear now has speed plus. Craft potions or amulets to boost speed. Use bow to lower health then one hit with melee. Once you get better weapons it doesn't take but one hit on low level boars, foxes and goblins. Nothing agro chains if runs off, otherwise you would have an entire zone training on top of you. Do not necro.

I've found if you back yourself between bushes or trees, it keeps the enemies coming at you one at a time, and lessens the damages. If you get a fox and a troll at the same time, kill fox first (it will usually be trapped by troll), then the troll.

I have found out that the mobs that run away are very easy to kill if you just hit them once with a axe or a pick they will not run then switch to your main weapon and kill them in one hit.
first off
what level are you in the game?
you should have access to Crafting bows by 5th level
the moment you have access = Build one and start crafting arrows once you've caught a couple Roosters and penned them up in your Keep <they make feathers>

Goblins will usually stay and fight until they are critically low on HP's but they can be beaten.
do not attempt to engage Foxes as they are set to run at 1/2 HP's and will flee directly away from you. if you really want to Gakk them, run them into fixed obstacles where they cannot escape then finish them off.
Boar at low level are dangerous and should be avoided until you have at least Bronze Weapons available & a Bow

the trick to engaging certain dangerous animals is to use your terrain to your advantage by lurking in a spot where they cannot get at you. you can then plug away from range with impunity and they will flee or beat at the brush in front of you till they die

Cute to ask a question on a thread that's years old. I have no idea what level I was 2 years ago. I've uninstalled the game since then. Bye.

As I understood the game 's rules....two word.. Be Patient ans Quiet!
Foxes and boar are here for trapping you !! don't try to follow them in the beginning!!
Idem for the animals to catch with trap ! think to keep the zone clear before trying because they always running the first try and sometimes the second time.
At level 7 and more ! foxes, boar and bear are more annoying than dangerous....

Equip double weapons - two swords, or a sword and knife. Switch between them quickly for some fun, tactical battling! Makes combat way better.
