More Steam Features? (achievements, cards and steam cloud)
What about achievements?
Trading cards?
Steam Cloud?

The game looks great so far and would be even better with those features.

I totally agree! It would be so awesome to have those features included!

Now, while I hate to bring a mediocre "it's a software problem" explanation, it actually is exactly that! D:

Please let me explain: I started working on Macbat 64 in a very early free version of Unity 4. This was mainly because of my crappy laptop back then. For those features, I would need to incorporate the Steam API. This, however, is not possible with the version of Unity 4, that I used. I would need to get the professional version of Unity 4, which is not cheap. Another option would be to port the game over to Unity 5. This however is a big problem because all the stuff, I used in the game, is outdated and not supported in Unity 5 anymore. That means, i would need to completely rebuild the game in Unity5 (which would took around at least another year).

I found out about this around three to four months ago and I can tell you that I was really disappointed by it. :/ I already had some great designs for the trading cards in the works. Something similar to those old 90s trading cards, that you would find in cheap magazines and stuff! :D

Anyway, as it stands right now, those features will not be included. If I find a way (let's say, get the money for Unity 4 Pro or maybe find an easier way to port the game to Unity 5), I will do it asap, because I am still unhappy with those features missing, and I would love to include them.

I hope that you will still enjoy the game, and I promise that I won't give up on those features, if there is a way! :)

Cheers,
Marcus

I have already checked out both. :) Thanks though! I am sure I will find a way eventually. Just bear with me for now, please!

Steam/Onlline features are a bonus to me.
As long as the game is good, nothing else really matters.
That's why I bought so much from XBLIG.

I thought a game couldn't be submitted without ideas for Steam cards?

Steam cards are completely optional for developers, nujumkey. Plenty of games don't have any.

I know some games don't use cards, but a f2p dev mentioned he couldn't submit the game without having a card designed. Don't know if Siactro had to make them, but couldn't put them in the gamecause of the engine issue.

I don't know why that f2p dev told you that, he must have been confused. When you submit a game to Greenlight, you don't even have access yet to the web interface for creating/submitting your game's cards to Valve. That comes muuuch later, long after you sign a contract with Valve and they've agreed to allow your game on Steam. A game can be greenlit and ready for publishing for months and still not have any cards in Valve's database for it. I'm a Steam developer too BTW. That's why I know.

But I do hope they get added for Macbat eventually. I'd love to craft a badge for it. :)

Cards don't have anything to do with the game's engine. They're also a completely optional feature.
nujumkey Mar 17, 2017 @ 10:03pm
ahh my bad then
Siactro  [developer] Mar 30, 2017 @ 4:10pm
Well, what can I say? Syaxamaphone was right. Steam Trading Cards had nothing to do with the engine, or the game itself. I can't really tell if I didn't read the article, back then, correctly or If I was simpley to confused to understand it the first time. Long story short: Steam Trading Cards for Macbat 64 are now a thing! :) Also, because it took me soooo freaking long, I made sure that it doesn't take too long to get them (especially because it is a short game). I won't go into detail here of course, but you guys should come out with a few when playing the game once. Also, keep in mind, this only concerns the Steam Trading Cards, the other features are on my list but are a completely different story. Anyway, I hope you have fun with the Cards! :D Cheers.

Huh, it does have cards. Will pick up with my usual Winter Sale blitz.

Q: Why doesn't the store page say it has cards, now that it does?
Siactro  [developer] Sep 22, 2017 @ 2:35pm
That... is actually a really good question. I honestly have no idea right now, will look into it! Thanks for the heads up! :)
