Game mutes with HDMI?

I've been trying to play V3 on a big TV on campus. To do this, I load the game on my laptop and then connect to that TV using an HDMI cable.

For some reason, every time I do this, no sound comes out of the game at all.

This is the ONLY game I've played that does this. I've tried screwing with the TV and my laptop's settings, and the game's settings. The game is always muted. If I disconnect the HDMI and play the game, the sound comes back. Is there a technical reason for this, or am I just doing a dumb?

Most likely the TV does not have speakers, or they are broken. You'd need to configure the audio output to be from your laptop, and not send it through the HDMI.
