How to get the best ending

I need to know how to get the best ending. I hate sad endings and I'm on trial of chapter 4 right now. How do I get the best ending with no spoilers?

Basically you have to get the 'bad ending' before getting the real ending.

But they are all in the same route as it were.

Mechanically, getting the bad end in DRv3 is basically just like the first game: you get it, and then continue onto the main ending.

(other than that, the bad end in DRv3 has basically nothing in common with the bad end in DR1)

Personally I don't call the "first ending" an ending. It's a fakeout and clearly not an ending. It just confuses folks to call it that.
