Ultra Despair Girls first?
Hi! Just beat Danganronpa 2 and my friend really wants to show me v3. Should I wait and play through Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls first or am I good to go with this one?

Cheers

So no, you don't need to.

However it's recommended you play ((or watch a recap)) of UDG if you want to watch Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School anime

And that is not needed to understand V3 either.

Does this mean you're going to not watch the anime? If you plan to watch the anime, you 100% should play UDG first, then watch the anime, then play V3

You have confused me. Are you saying i should watch the show before playing v3?

Absolutely. After you have completed Danganronpa 2, you should then play UDG, then watch the anime in the correct order, then play Danganronpa V3

Well, i played it right after 2, and understood everything perfectly. There's no need to play anything more, the story in v3 is clear even without udg

The story in V3 is clear without Danganronpa 1 and 2 too

Soo... The stupid steam ereased all the big text i wrote because i had something to check in the store... And because of that i'll be quick. V3 holds many references to 1 and 2, and the final plot twist would make less impact if you missed previous games, especially the part when tsumugi disguises herself as characters from 1&2 and the whole hope & despair stuff. You'll only become confused by not getting any of those references. AND whole endgame stuff will be almost unplayable. But there is no problem with udg, because it was released after v3, so there can't be any references

Wait UDG was released after v3? Now I feel dumb

You 100% spoiled them there lol. And no, what are you talking about? UDG was released BEFORE V3.

Oh, sorry. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up something with dates, i was pretty sure v3 is from 2014. That's what happens if you forget to check something you are writing about :(. What are you talking about with spoiling? The hope & despair part? Or what?

V3 was released on September 26, 2017 internationally, January 17(?), 2017 in Japan. I was on the Steam page at 1 AM on that exact date. UDG was *ported to Steam after V3.* V3 was the only game Spike released cross-platform simultaneously. 1, 2, & UDG were all Vita-exclusive for a long time. They've only recently been put on Steam & PS4. V3 came out long after 1 & 2 were ported to Steam & PS4, so it got released on the cross-platform treatment DR & 0E could only wish for.

That's the point of the spoiler text. It stops you from being spoiled. You don't want spoilers, take internet blackouts when you start a game you don't want spoilers on.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
