Why does this game have so much incest tho?
Seriously, I just got Tsumugi's Love Key scene and that marks the third instance of it after Kiyo/his sister & Monotaro/Monophanie , does one of the writers have some kind of incest fetish or what?

It's a not uncommon trope in anime for a younger sister to be obsessed with her older brother, and vice versa.

It seems to be based on the brother's protective instincts to defend the sister, and the sister's gratitude for such that all other boys are measured against her brother. And, of course, the brother can find no one as pure, innocent, and often delicate as the sister. It is far less common for it to get to a physical level and is supposed to be like a phase the characters grow out of. In high school. Which is where they are.

You're basically seeing arrested development.

Okay but Tsumugi literally asks you to ♥♥♥♥, one of the spoiler pairings I listed ends up pregnant, and the other is pretty implicitly if not outright explicitly sexual.

Yes. And?

I get finding incest to be upsetting. It's taboo in the majority of world cultures (though there is disagreement over what counts as incest, but that's an entirely different discussion and these cases are clear cut).

But I very much doubt there's anything more wrong with the writers than there is in writing crazy murders. ::shrug:: They're playing with a frequently used trope and giving us the most twisted and shocking outcomes.

Here's a list of more recent, non-hentai incest anime if you really don't want to believe me: https://www.thecinemaholic.com/best-anime-incest/ . I've not personally seen most of it, though I do like Koi Kaze. It also has teddy bears.

This is one of those things perhaps best filed under "cultural differences."

You wanted an explanation for all of the incest content in Danganronpa, and I gave you one. When you continued to have an issue understanding the theming, I used what I knew to find you a list of examples of how common it was as a romantic trope (not just a sexual fetish since hentai has all sorts of weird things) in Japanese productions. The list doesn't cover most of the stuff I've seen since it's more recent. It should really include US mainstream classics Neon Genesis Evangelion, Angel Sanctuary, and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Incest plots are really popular in Japan.

Think what you like about me. To me, it's like saying I *have* an Electra Complex just because I've watched Greek Theater. Knowing about, watching, and enjoying art is not the same as holding all of the views presented in that art. If it is, I should really make sure we never meet so that you don't murder me to spread worldwide despair.

Oh crap you're onto me, time to skedaddle

I was about to click "post" on a 3-paragraph response that defended NGE as being only vaguely incest-adjacent, then went over why you're most probably into incest because you show an oddly comprehensive knowledge of it and why the hell would you have that unless you're into it, but Steam abruptly crashed and reloaded the page, destroying everything I'd written in the process.

So now all you get is my skedaddling joke.

Now that I've beaten the game it all makes sense, and when you think about it it's actually kind of brilliant, major plot spoilers ahead: Tsumugi is confirmed an incest fetishist as we see in her love scene, and as the mastermind/lead writer for the Danganronpa series, it makes sense that someone as unhinged as her would try to insert her fetish into her work, resulting in both Kiyo's situation and the monotaro/monophanie thing. It's not that the devs are incest fetishists, it's that the main villian is!

Hello there.
Excuse me, but you have been a bit of an @ssh0le, buddy...
The guy had explained in all objectivity why the deal with incest and all, and you accuse him of being into incest ♥♥♥♥ himself. Not cool, not cool at all.

You sounded there like one of those guy who accuse people of being racist because they understood why someone had become racist.

Understanding thing and approving things are really, REALLY, different thing.

And people who can't process that you can talk about something, understand something without approving it are really a plague of modern society and the reasons why people can't talk to eachother anymore on taboo or controversial subject without ending yelling at eachother, like the entire world can see these days in USA for, like, every sensible subject.

Understand things, talking things has nothing to do with approving.

I really hope you understand/understood why your 2sd response to the guy who took the time to explain and talk with you was totally toxic...

And before you start conjecturing about me, no, i'm not into incest too. I'm definitively not into inbred people and it would never cross my mind to ♥♥♥♥ anybody from my family.

Don't take any offense, of course, i'm just pointing out how toxic it is to assume or accuse someone of being "like this" because they can speak openly about that thing.
This guy understanding the "why the hell incest here?" doesn't make him an incest fetish dude,
the same way profiler aren't psychopath/sociopath/serial killers.

Though, I admit the expression "when you look too deep into the darkness, the darkness ends up looking into you" hold some truth. But that's one extrem case and on fragile people. :-)

idk man he outright admitted to enjoying some pretty incesty animes, seems pretty sus to me.

speaking of sus, you're kinda throwin me off with this 9 paragraph response out of nowhere, makes it seem like you might have some kind of vested interest in the outcome of this discussion. I'm just saying, I know you denied it to cover your bases and all, but you wouldn't want people thinking you were Mysti's brother+lover because of how readily you dove in to defend his honor and whatnot.

Like heck you even specified "not into inbreds", which leaves plausible deniability if y'all are up to gay incest instead of just run-of-the-mill straight incest.
