Is there a way to get deleted save files back?
So I had recently just accidentally deleted my only save file. I was on chapter 4 and we were about to vote, but my friend really wanted to see the execution, so I got on discord and streamed from there. I got up to go to the bathroom before we started, and when I came back my file was gone. My friend says as I got up I had selected "new save file" and clicked on my save that was already there and deleted it. I'm super devastated and want to know if there's a way to get the save file back? I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game from steam, and I have cloud share on.

Unfortunately I don't think there is. I feel like if you dont wanna speedrun the game i suggest finding an almost complete save file online and use it

You can if you have the right tools (not getting into it on here but it's not that difficult) but if you don't want to go through all that trouble you can probably find a save file online.

Can you possibly message me the way to do it? As long as its not some sketchy downloaded stuff I would be willing to try.

Dumb question, but can you access the DRV3 files by going into Documents/MyGames/DRV3 ?

Documents might be different depending on what OS u got.

This is probably another problem entirely but I only have Skyrim and Terraria documents/games

Try checking the "show hidden files" option on your control panel, you might see it then.

You may not get achievements but I found one on Reddit. Hope it works!

Ok, iirc you need to change one of the file extensions, but idk which one it is =/

Basically what happens is the game makes a backup file automatically and "hides" it from view, so there's something to fall back to if a file becomes corrupted. I had to use this backup once, it does it automatically, you'll just see it as "hey, wasn't I a bit further than this?" if you save often. However, you can manually change it by changing the right file extensions, so you could switch the "new" file into a backup file and then use the backup as your main file. Then you just play a bit and the backup (which is the trash new game file you don't want in your case) gets overwritten.

Assuming you're on win10:

Documents/MyGames/Danganronpa V3

Or something similar to this.

Ok so im there, I have these files under danganronpa:
*_CommonRedist
*data
*config
*Dangan3Win
*language
*steam_api64.dll
*V3Lancher
When I go under data, I get win, go under that and I get 3 different CPK files which im pretty sure dont have anthing to do with my save files. The config is just my controls and _CommonRedist has many 4 differnt folders that each have a bunch of stuff in it which probably have it in there somewhere. But again, I literally have NO idea what the heck im doing, and just following your instructions best I can. Where would I go after this?

Turn on the hidden file view and there should be more files that you can access. Once you find the two save files, you should be able to swap the extensions (provided there's only two) and you'll be good to go.
