You are, of course, allowed to have your own theories on the matter, but I don't think this thread is the right place to discuss them.
Yeah, the setting isn't the same, of course, but that doesn't mean the game takes place in an alternate universe. And why wouldn't this be the tread to discuss this? The title of the read is asking if V3 is canon or not, and there isn't a concrete answer to that question.
regardless if it is canon to the main universe or not, the story still applies. sure they may have just shat on all the lore, but that lore still exists within the "danganronpa universe" within the game. so think of it as a game within a game.
i personally don't care as i just forget about it, but i can see it bothers other people for some reason
the reason I say this is because while I can believe an elite highschool existed and MAYBE junko DID cause the school to go kinda loopy and kill people inside it, and then eachother, etc. I doubt SHE ACTUALLY destroyed the world, or the remnants of dispair ever went on a rampage, or a secret future foundation was ever created to fight them, or that millions of monokumas were killing and imprisoning people, etc.
The premise of V3 being explained from the beginning It was a reality killing game, where participants would sign up to be mind wiped and imbued with a specific talent and fake life, and be forced into the killing game the audience would then vote on who they wanted the next killer and victim to be, and it would be motivated in the next episode, or for US, chapter.
it was also revealed at the end that
this was the 53rd season of the show
so with everything in mind that the events of the previous games were a bit hyper dramatic.....and the implications in the spoilers.....not an alternate universe but what is described in the spoilers.
