When I played 2, it was "This isn't as good as 1, but it's still decent and worth playing."

Playing 3, so far it's "This isn't as good as 2, but I guess it's a Danganronpa game and I'll keep playing."

4 things are really bugging me

Input lag- Every button press has a 33% chance to register, 33% to not register, 33% to register multiple times, and a 1% chance to crash the game.

Protagonist- They had you be a blank slate everyman in the previous games for a reason: it just works in stories where you're thrown into a strange evironment. Here I'm playing a half ditz, half sort of leader, girl who hits on other girls just to make them uncomfortable, obsessed music geek? It doesn't quite work when you're not playing the least strange character.

Music- Oh my lord this is by far the worst sound track of the series. I have to alt+tab out and mute the sound (because that's faster than putting up with input lag to go the menu and mute music) whenever the Monokubs show up and "Rise & Shine, Ursine" starts playing. It sounds like a grating 10 second loop of an electronic pop version of "I'm Too Sexy" and I want to punch the screen to get it to stop. ONE......TWO.....THIS IS ALL THAT REMAINS OF A ONCE blah blah blah

4th wall breaking- One review said this seems more like Danganronpa fan fiction than a real Danganronpa game. I think it's because it seems like this game was written by people who do nothing but browse TV Tropes all day. Breaking the 4th wall can work when it's used sparingly, but they do it a dozen times whenever the bears show up. At times they're literally reciting Tv Tropes entries ("Death is cheap trope").

All in all it's still worth playing if you're a series fan but I've found it to be the weakest so far. It's definitely not worth $60 compared to the others (especially with the super bad port job).
1. That's just the port. The Vita version is totally fine, so that's not really a problem with the game.

2. That's the point. To intentionally make her more interesting, rather than an everyman. It switches things up and it's a breath of fresh air. Also, Kaede is amazing. Beat the first chapter and you'll see what I mean.

3. The Monokubs theme is glorious and I will not have you slandering it. And besides, only giving one example? Saying the entire, or even a majority of thr soundtrack is bad from one song?

4. The fourth wall breaking actually has a good reason for it.

You're only on the first chapter. Actually get a decent amount into the game before making a judgement like this, if you please. If you're going to judge a game, you should have a decent amount of experience and not speak entirely from first impressions. Now, if you said that these were your first impressions and thye were subject to change, it'd be fine. But you didn't. And that makes all the difference. And no, this isn't me trying to be an ass.

How the different Danganronpa games compare really is up to the individual. For example, there are plenty of people who liked the first game more than the second yet that completely baffles me. I think V3 is about as good as 2 was, possibly a bit better. V3 has my favourite Chapter 6, but I like the cast of 2 better... It's a tough call. V3 definitely has my favourite soundtrack by a mile, though.

The port is pretty bad. Badly optimised and a nightmare for keyboard players.

better from the second game especially tho is the more colorful aesthetics and also
DR2 doesn’t have aesthetics. Colors don’t match, no decent picture composition, no post-processing/filtering of images, clunky animation. Also tropical island instead of enclosed space is a weird choice for a mystery thriller. So far visual-wise DR3 is better, dark neon theme is back, 3D models look pretty good. Story is alright I suppose, though not so exciting as the first one. Still surprising though. How mini games mechanics get overloaded every game I do not appreciate.

I guess Danganronpa2>Danganronpa V3> Danganronpa1

I did a pretty severe 180 on the protagonist honestly, I think they come around as probably the best of the three.

I would've just appreciated it if he had more of a reaction to things rather than just cluelessness ( outside of the cases ) and just '' okay '' or '' huh ''.
I sorta got my hopes up in vain in chapter 1. I am at chapter 5 now tho, so I haven't finished it yet.
But damn... There have to be some MAJOR changes for me to change my mind from here.
Honestly, almost done with the game now, and this is my favorite protagonist in this series thus far, and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOVE Hajime.

for the ost, I think they only added ten more and some are kinda just remixes so I felt it was a bit lazy. I do like the cubs theme though makes me laugh.

Everything in this game is the best of series except the ending .

New Non-Stop Debate is very cool the text is not just floating around but also animated like typography .

Ost is very good especially [Monokuma after class V3].

Monokubs is so hilarios. I didn't know will they gonna next game in V3 universe or Hope Peak universe but I hope they gonna bring back these 5 to next game.

Character that make me feel more close to them than 1st 2 games until the ending.

forge your own opinion, but imo this one is SEPARATE from DR1/DR2 due to the story being.... unique.

gameplay-wise he is far more better than the 2 first games.
OST-wise its godlike, all of them are awesome, but DR's OST has always been abolutly perfect.
character-wise i liked far less DRv3 due to angie and kokichi, extremely annoying chars

but... the story still troubles me and would probably make people hate this one due to... the ending.

despair? hope? future? truth? lie?
pick all of them

First 34 hours are better than DR1/2, last hour is worse than DR1/2.
