Should I watch the Danganronpa 3 anime before playing this?
I just realized I haven't watched the anime series Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School that's supposed to conclude the Hope's Peak story. Will I miss out on connections between that and Killing Harmony if I play the game without watching the anime first?

You should watch it if you want to understand a little better the story, I guess.
It's not necessary. There's not even a reference to it outside of bonus modes. But I'd recommend you watch it nevertheless.

Yes, definitely. Future Arc covers what happens after the first killing game and Despair Arc shows what happened to the class of Danganronpa 2.

In fact, I would highly recommend playing Ultra Despair Girls before watching the anime.

I don't think you need to watch DR3, it does tie up the arcs though. You should definitely have SDR2 and DR1 knowledge when going into this game...

DRV3 is its own self-contained storyline, but it might have some fourth wall-breaking references to DR3 that you won't get. It's certainly not required to watch it.

That being said, I do think you should watch DR3 anyway, because it was fantastic overall and wrapped up the whole Hope's Peak storyline that DR1, DR2, and UDG were based around. Just make sure you watch the episodes correctly, as they jumped back and forth between Future and Despair arcs and then ended with the final Hope episode.

To DR3? I haven't heard of any references to DR3, while I have heard of referenced to DR1 and 2

Neither have I, but I haven't played it. I said it MIGHT have references to DR3. If it doesn't, then hey, whatever.

I would have probably heard about any references to DR3, so I don't think there are any in this game.

Cool. I suppose it would make sense if they only reference the games.

Still, OP should watch the DR3 anime anyway, because it's great.

Whether it has references or not, I would still recommend playing it.

Eh. Maybe. I've played through quite a bit of the game and it's only been referenced once. The anime isn't bad but by no means remarkable. You can pass it if you want lol.

When was the anime referenced? There was a reference to DR1 and DR2, but I don't remember one to DR3

Not necessary at all. In fact, they rarely reference the show and never the future arc. I mainly believe this to be true because of one of two reason; either they were making this game in tandem with the show or they realized how bad the show was and decided to ignore it.

I never played Ultimate Despair girls and from what I saw there were very few references to it as well. Honestly, I don't think you'd even need to have played the past two games to enjoy this one.

Neither. It's because they were always intending for this to be a new start, and this game was in development at the same time as DR3.
