Despair death road minigame impossible on PC?
Why does the W key (jump) only work less than half of the time?

I feel like it's meant to be like this. I stopped playing right after the second try and it does look like the controls are purposefully meant to be unresponsive.

Its supposed to control like ass, the joke is that its unbeatable.

It's not unbeatable though.

I'm also finding that the jump key only works sometimes. Surely it wasn't designed this way? I'm also finding that the enter key/left mouse to progress dialogue is occasionally unresponsive.

It's beatable, you get a secret ending and some prizes for beating it.

I'm also finding the input pretty unresponsive. Advancing text sometimes takes a few tries, as though pressing the button on the wrong frame isn't registered

Controls get more responsive in Borderless or Windowed mode, it's some kind of bug with controls in Fullscreen.

Yeah, you're right. It's a lot more responsive windowed.

I'm pretty sure it will take you hours to complete it, but it's definitely beatable. You will get rewarded for it like Narbartor said...
This thread has been resolved.
I think it's supposed to be designed as incredibly hard to beat as you need to fail it in order to advance the normal story. Though I'll argue my own silly opinion that making a part difficult by using awkward controls isn't very good game design.

This hasn't been resolved! The W key is bugged during the minigame.

The controls are intentionally bad, BUT there also seems to be a degenerative bug in this version of the game where it starts randomly ignoring inputs over time.

It's not just in the platformer. I noticed the same issue moving the selection cursor in my gifts menu and advancing dialogue. It's not as noticeable when simply running around, because movement is read as a continuous input.

The only solution I've found is to flip into windowed mode (alt+enter), and that resets the input reading performance. But it will deteriorate again.

I would rather play the water level on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles than this minigame.

I haven't exactly experienced this issue outside of argument armament or whatever that is called, as well as the underground tunnel. I'm not about to pull out the PS3 pad to play this. The devs need to fix this. A PC game where the M+KB inputs are broken is beyond insanity.

I had the same thing going on, but for some reason, i was able to fix it by going into my nvidia control panel and forcing it to use the dedicated graphics card, although it shouldve done that before. No idea whats happening here, but it worked, i guess?
That being said, the trials are pretty forgiving, so you can somehow get an A even with garbage controls.
