How do I build friendship?

I'm attempting to accumulate the highest relation I can get with a certain character. After two 'loved' gifts given and the correct answer given to their question, I stopped receiving relation points despite giving them stuff they like. Do I just need to wait until next time or am I doing something wrong?

had the same issue, ( with kiibo if that matters) for some reason it started working again when i stopped giving gifts.
maybe try this and see how it goes...

That's weird. I can't figure out how to continue after getting 2 relation points! thank you for the suggestion

I think if you go progress the main story (like until the next chapter's free time) it will work again. I heard of other people not being able to advance relationships further in the first chapter too. I don't know if it's a glitch, or if you're just not meant to see any more events yet. I didn't run into the problem myself because I did Free Time events with several different characters, and now that I'm later in the game it's letting me build relationships normally.

I did always think it was kind of weird in other DR games when I did a bunch of events with one character early on and became much closer to them than the story dialog indicated, which is one reason I decided to spend my free time with several characters. This game is more polished than the others, IMO, so it might be a gameplay-story integration thing like that.

This is what I initially thought, but I couldn't find anywhere that said so. Sounds like everything is working as intended. I just did not want to miss out on anything. Thank you

Yes, I think I have seen this many times over too. It was something about people complaining about no progress with characters. Either way, the solution to their problem was to unlock Kaede's research lab. So progress the story until you unlock her research lab, then you can get more friendship fragments. That's what I've seen on the forums...( and I am on here everyday replying to everything people post, xD. Except in the Spoiler Discussions, because that place is a mess. ) Tell me if it works or not.

There are certain times when you specifically can't progress a relationship with someone, if this is the issue you're having trouble with. You may be able to progress with someone during one chapter but cannot progress the next chapter, it's normal for story based reasons, whatever that may be.

If he isn't on Salmon Rush, then you are correct. One example of what you're saying would be in Chapter 3...
