Chapter 6 Investigation, am I missing something? (Spoiler Free)

I get to the classroom with the locker and the door. They're the only things I can click on. I try to click on the stacked objects in the room, starting from the top the way I saw in a Let's Play, but the reticle doesn't change to a hand, nor does it show up in the Observe function. Can I get some help with this? Am I missing something?

You need to punch the tables away. If you play with m+k its the middle mouse button.

Right, I also found that I was using the Left Mouse button to move the obstacles, and I needed instead to use the spacebar to move them instead.
