No, just that the broad strokes are the same. I mentioned this kind of stuff a while ago. Chaos, rioting, unique group against hope(Gofer Project). The broad strokes of a chaotic outside are basically the same. The specifics are different, but the general situation has many parallells to the Tragedy we know.
The meteorite situations could also be called The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History as well. It's similar, but not the same.
I think I'm nearly finished. For a long time I really wasn't sure anything would fit together. I think alot of it fits together to my satisfaction now. There are so many parts, that at the moment I can't really see a way of writing this stuff down particularly simply, or in a relatively small amount of words. It's just too big. Maybe if I understand the heart of it all?
The events happen at the end of Danganronpa Anime 3. Between Hajime sailing away on his boat and Makoto opening the new Hope's Peak School. Their story is finished. But the Tragedy is not over. All that happened is that the Future Foundation was torn apart, and the Danganronpa 2 class joined the side of Hope.
Tsumugi is a copy cat, she can play real people. Her Cospox is a lie, designed to remove her from contention in Murder Trials, and ensure that any video she makes playing any body else will be believed to be the real thing. She puts on her tv show, and has the ad at the start of the game to show that it is a continuation of the previous Killing Games we know from the previous games/anime in the series. This served to draw in all the Despair filled people of the world, and those close to despair to watch her new TV show.
A note at this point, Kokichi's lab is actually the first lab built. Its 'service' entrance for the exisals is paved over, and its secret elevator entrance is built before anyone can access the area it is in, and it is hidden as a pillar. Tsumugi can't really enter it again when ever she wants, because the entrances are paved over or locked down with concrete and steel. However, it can just stay hidden, if needed.
The prologue is true. The V3 class were kidnapped. Rantaro and Kaede start to recognise the game, because they have seen it before, but they never believed they would be part of it because not only is Junko dead, but they are not ultimates, nor have any connection to Hope's Peak.
Monokuma is largely the Tradtional Monokuma, in that he will tell the truth, but with important details omittied. However, there two points upon which Monokuma finds it a higher priority to protect, over and above his own truthfulness and integrity to the V3 class and TV audience.
1 to imply that Monokuma is in charge of the Killing Game, and controlled by the mastermind who will be revealed to be Junko.(The final Flashback Light.)
2 To protect the integrity of the game. ie making sure that Tsumugi's actions in Chapter one are not revealed.
Mastermind information is not verifiable, except through either things Monokuma says, or 'evidence' Tsumugi plants to prove it, so this does not affect Monokuma's trustworthiness standing with anybody. Hiding Tsumugi's actions were a last minute attempt to protect the game, and Monokuma only took on the task after the Monokubs failed, and the end of the game was in sight, in which case, Monokuma stopped serving any useful role being seen to be truthful. The main point of Monokuma was to have integrity for the V3 class. But this is no longer relevant at the end, so he can actually use his apparenty integrity to lie to the V3 class. Both the main times of Monokuma's lying are right at the end. Monokuma's lies at this time would serve to deal with the disruptions to Tsumugi's intended story. All the disruptions to the original story meant that Tsumugi had to quickly introduce aspects to the story that hadn't had time to be introduced the intended way. So Monokuma started lying to plug holes that weren't supposed to be discovered at all, like Tsumugi's participation in the first murder. Tsumugi's participation in Rantaro's murder was only found through extreme circumstances, like Keebo blowing up the school and opening access to the secret Library room.
The Monokubs are used to protect Monokuma's truthfulness, by presenting the lies that keep the game running, which would hurt Monokuma's integrity. Monokubs are designed to 'borrow' the authority of Monokuma by being apparently like him and attached to him, which allows them to directly lie and present anything that is untrue, and have them be believable. This allows Monokuma to be trustworthy, because he isn't the one telling the lies. I think this might also be for the audience's trust. The audience knows the flashback lights aren't real, so if they see Monokuma giving them out then that would make him untrustworthy to the audience. Thiswould mean that the fact that the Final Flashback Light was given by Monokuma would be partially a lie to the audience, to make it seem like Monokuma was the mastermind, controlled by Junko.
The V3 class is brain wiped to removed their memory of the Tragedy, so maybe back a year or two. This process is not perfect, which is why Kaede remembers the Brainwipe, and Shuichi finds the gym familiar. It is possible that all the flashback lights were somewhat close to the situation outside, both because it is despair inducing, and because it would explain away any stray memories or feelings that might still be present. So, everything you learn about them is true memories. Any lies that have been added, are those explictly seen in the game as Flashback lights, or the Monokubs checking that the Ultimate memories stuff has been added(Ultimtate memories is what an ultimate is that the monokubs go over with Kaede that she says she remembers, not personal memories of being an ultimate, except for a specific personal confirmation of being an ultimate.)
Everyone receives only one additional memory, a confirmation of their ultimate status, and a partial explanation of what an Ultimate is. So, everything you learn about them is true memories. Any lies that have been added, are those explictly seen in the game as Flashback lights, or the Monokubs checking that the Ultimate memories stuff has been added(Ultimate memories are what an ultimate is defined as that the monokubs go over which Kaede confirms she remembers, not personal memories of being an ultimate, except for a specific confirmation of being an ultimate). There are two exceptions to that. 1 Rantaro has no memory removed, and has no ultimate memory added. 2 Kiyo has his memories of his Sister altered somehow, because he remembers his Sister making his current Ultimate Uniform.
Kaede and Rantaro are special players, they are there to replay the roles of the Ultiamte Hope, adn Ultimate Detective respectively. However, Bother are at their best. Kaede is already fully cpaable of inspiring others, and Rantaro has no memory alteration, unlike Kyoko who had the most memory alteration.
Rantaro is given the Survivor's Perk Monopad, which has a partial map of the school. There are two important parts 1 he can see the Library secret room. But the secret entrance from the girls bathroom is omitted. 2 He is given the knowledge that the Mastermind has to go somewhere to make a new Monokuma copy.
Kaede's ultimate Hope is blocked by the Death Road of Despair. And Rantaro's ultimate detective type skill is actually used against him, because he receives more information than everyone else, not less. And he knows the true horror of the Tragedy and the Killing Games. So Rantaro is led into a trap, because he knows only one entrance way into the Secret room, and the timelimit means that the mastermind has to make copies of Monokuma. Rantaro is likely to die or kill someone, given the trap, This is becasue, not only is Tsumugi willing and able to murder, plant evidence or trick someone into going into the library, but she the First Blood perk can be used, which means that the crime scene will not be examined at all. So there are a range of options for getting Rantaro to die, or be killed. It is probably an unhappy accident that Kaede, the Ultimate Hope stand in, is the one to attempt to murder Rantaro. Or it could be the basically inevitable result of her failure at the Despair road. That's one is up for debate. So Tsumugi is happy to help that particular murder plan out.
The events proceed as normal, until Monokuma performs his one lie to protect the mastermind, which is to say that Kaede is the Blackened.
As seen in the ads at the start of each chapter, an ad at the start of chapter 2, for example, will show the flashback light reveal in chapter 3, and so on. This will become important later.
Skip ahead to chapter 4.
Kokichi is able to gain the Key card as part of the motive, which has no name at this point. What Kokichi finds is a Flashback Light machine. Kokichi is not interested in using it to kill, but manipulates events already in place from Miu, to setup up Gonta. Kokichi creates a Flashback Light about the outside, calls it the secret of the outsdie, gets Monokuma to transfer it into the Neo World Program, uses it to convince Gonta that the outside is terrible. Kokichi now has evidence that he is the mastermind, which he will use.
Now, by the end of Chapter 4, the FLashback light was supposed to be revealed as fake. Chapter 4's ad is for the Rantaro video, which meant the video would be seen in chapter 5. This is because everyone was supposed to find out the Flashback Lights are fake by the end of chapter 4, and then Tsumugi would introduce the Rantaro video to given the 'true' version of what was going on outside. This is why Rantaro's lab appears in chapter 5. This Rantro video was shot by Tsumugi, with Tsumugi playing Rantaro, in the lab while it still appeared to be under construction. However, Kokichi had prevented the reveal of the Flashback Light machine.
Then, early into Chapter 5, Kokichi reveals the outside world to everybody. Kokichi knew, based on looking at the Flashback Light machine, and the fact that they had all found out about the meteorites at this time, that the outside would look like a wasteland, either for real, or for fake. Kokichi then took Kaito and left, to leave the ultimate despair to take hold of the V3 class.
Tsumugi decided to bring in Hope's Peak at this time, to produce Hope, and also continue the story she already had planned. She had already left Hope's Peak History in Kokichi's lab before the game started, so the Hope's Peak Flashback light needed to have errors, so that the Flashback Lights would still be able to be proven false. And the Hope's Peak history would prop up the Rantaro video, to say that there were previous Killing Games. The intention was to reveal Junko as the mastermind, with Tsumugi playing the role. This is why Monokuma had to lie in certain situations to imply he was being controlled by the mastermind.
Tsumugi managed to get Kokichi killed, and to introduce Hope's Peak at the same time. Tsumugi then had Monokuma give a special Flashback Light, which would quickly reveal many memories in a few hours, and show Monokuma as controlled by the mastermind who wiped their memories.
The altered intended ending is the paragraph below, and continues of the previous paragraph. The original intended ending is the next paragraph below that one, the one with a + in front of it. Both are probable options, not really proven, or provable.
This would allow Tsumugi to open both Rantaro's lab and Kokichi's lab at the same time in chapter 6. This would allow the introduction of both Rantaro's video and Hope's Peak history in chapter 6, together. They would both support the idea that previous killling games existed, and serve to show that flashback lights aren't reliable. This would allow Tsumugi to walk in as Junko the Mastermind by the end chapter 6. This story was extended and rushed in ways not originally intended, but it was going to end in relatively the same place, with Hope's Peak being revealed, and Junko as the mastermind. Tsumugi intentionally made the Prologue remake and application videos to imply that they had applied for the TV show, and this would have likely happened before chapter 6, because during chapter 6 access to the rooms would be more difficult, and I assume the noise would have been too bad to record an audio. So it seems reasonable that the Chapter 6 Class trial proceeded largely as intended, for Tsumugi dealing with all the disruptions to her narrative. Tsumugi played the roles of all the V3 class members involved. The Prologue video was shot imperfectly, in that the background to Kaede talking was different to the original, and the shape containing Shuichi had to be cut differently to cut Kirumi out of the back of the shot, so Tsumugi only had to impersonate on person. Alterations to the narrative were possible, based on what Tsumugi did or didn't decide to reveal during chapter 6.
+This next bit is what seems probable for the intended endings Tsumugi had in mind. The exact nature of the intended reveals for the intended ending is unclear. The intended ending probably had Rantaro's video for chapter 5 reveal. Then Hope's Peak History for Chapter 6 reveal. Then Junko walks in at th end of chapter 6. I assume that the purpose was to produce a basically perfect copy, so it was probably going to proceed very much like Danganronpa 1.
However, Keebo's control signal was damaged, and he went back to normal. Keebo's disruption allowed Shuichi and the others to find Rantaro's video, and Hope's Peak History, which could still come into the altered narrative. Finding these didn't help too much, because they were always intended to be revealed at about this point in the story. The main difference was that the V3 class could find the Mastermind's secret room, which gave them the evidence and knowledge to discover that Tsumugi was the mastermind, and that Tsumugi had killed Rantaro, not Kaede. It's not clear that Tsumugi intended to reveal herself as actually being Junko, considering Monokuma and the Monokubs tried very hard to hide this fact, and to hide Tsumugi's role in Rantaro's murder. Motherkuma seems different to the Monokuma copies. Motherkuma seems like the traditional Monokuma, who is willing to give hints that will reveal the mastermind(Might be Junko AI, there might be a copy not used that we have seen somewhere else in the Dangarnonpa universe <_< >_>). This differs from the Monokuma Clones, who will lie to protect the Mastermind.
The rest of the trial proceeded generally as Tsumugi wanted, but the specifics had to be worked out during the trial, because Tsumugi had to adapt her story to whatever had been found or argued during the trial as her original and altered stories had not been properly presented. Tsumugi managed to introduce the audience into the Show, and to use their despair filled lack of empathy and love of Killing Games as the best form of entertainment, because they use human lives to goad the audience into playing along and attacking the V3 class.
Shuichi tried hard to resist participating, and ended up convincing not only the rest of the V3 class, but also the audience. The important point is that since the audience for this Danganronpa V3 was the despair filled people of the world, Shuichi's arguments actually served to reintroduce empathy to probably most people of the world who were despair filled. The Audience were able to empathise because they were actually part of the Killing Game, which was due to the gimmick Tsumugi had introduced.
This act had Tsumugi realise that the world would likely no longer have killing games, because basically her entire audience no longer wanted them.
This is why Tsumugi gave up, and no longer wanted to continue in a world without Killing games, because even though the audience learned empathy, she did not. So she, and the last Monokuma(Motherkuma had been blown up) allowed themselves to be punished, in the same way that Junko allowed herself to be punished for her failure.
P.S If there is a Despair Girls 2, I think Sister would be perfect. It's possible that she might be alive, considering that Kiyo's Sister memories have been altered somehow, and I think they could have been altered to make it seem like she was dead, that Kiyo had talked to her after death, and murdered people, because his first altered memory is of her making his current Ultimate Uniform. Wishful thinking.
One More Thing
Throughout Danganronpa, when ever you get a correct answer, it will show a picture of the main character with them saying they got it right. For V3 its a picture of Shuichi with 'Got It' next to him. This actually doesn't always happen in the chapter 6 class trial. It doesn't happen when Shuichi answers that the V3 class is Fictional. There are two questions previous to this one that still get the 'confirmation'. They are when Tsumugi asks if its true that Cospox is real then what are the Hope's Peak's academy students if Tsumugi can cosplay as them, to which Shuichi says, it must mean the Hope's Peak is fictional(notice, if Cospox is true). The last question before this is who made V3, with an answer of Team Danganronpa. Shuichi's answer that the V3 class are fictional actually does not get confirmed with a 'got it'. And that combines with the fact that the Hope's Peak class are only fictional if cospox is true is confirmed with a 'got it' also. And what of the Epilogue, where Shuichi points to two things that lead to the fact that Tsumugi was able to cosplay real people.
I do think the big stuff is over. I feel better now. There might be some really specific smaller things, like you say, that change, but I think that overall structure will hold.
In DR universe we know, Kamukura technology possibly implant Ultimate talents in normal people. However, the implanted ultimate person would lose all their memories and personalities, in other words, they would be tranformed into a completely different person, unlike the V3 class who had their true personalities from the start of prologue. After they received the first Flashback light, their personalities still keep the same.
Well, it is just my opinion of this matter, it is unsure what technology used on the V3 class though.
There's something weird about all the kids' reactions to the subject of ultimate talents in the prologue that makes me feel like it's mutually understood that having talents would be a bad thing, and it's not just the rather specifically-phrased denials. The cast was basically saying 'I'm not the one you're looking for, nuh-uh!' when if they never had talent and if the idea of Ultimates were non-existent in V3-verse they should be saying 'What are you talking about?'
Not to mention Shuichi stutters, sweats, and looks to his right both times he talks about how totally normal he is. His looking to the right sprites pretty consistently only happen when he's thinking or lying/hiding something and the looking right + sweating combo pretty much always when lying. Kaito also stutters when asserting he doesn't have a talent btw, and Tenko seems quick to bring up the fact that she's a commoner without much prompting. And there's the whole kidnapping group talk.
There is Shuichi's saying that caught my attention when he first woke up from the locker.
Shuichi: "Wh-Who are you!? Are you with those other guys!?"
Kaede: "...What other guys?"
Shuichi: "The people who kidnapped me!"
-----
He said "other guys" which likely he implied there is another group kidnapped him besides the group he know, it is either the former or the latter could be Ultimate Hunt. Or it is the same group and there still some others in this group he didn't know. Anyway, in this situation, the students probably had doubts about Monokubs to reveal their ultimate talents.
I had another look at the chapter 6 trial.
Throughout Danganronpa, when ever you get a correct answer during a trial, it will show a picture of the main character with them saying they got it right. For V3 its a picture of Shuichi with 'Got It' next to him. This actually doesn't always happen in the chapter 6 class trial. It doesn't happen when Shuichi answers that the V3 class is Fictional, after Tsumugi cosplaying as Nekomaru says 'WHO THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS'.
This is not a confirmation of Hope's Peak being ficitional. It's a confirmation that they are fictional IF Tsumugi does have cospox. Shuichi hints that he thinks that Tsumugi admitted that she was copying a real Junko. Also, the prologue remake video indicates that somebody reshot certain scenes to make it seem like Kaede and Shuichi auditioned for the Killing Game. I think Tsumugi was the likely culprit for faking the videos. It is literally the case that both the things that Shuichi mentions in the epilogue, are the two things that work together to argue that Tsumugi does not have cospox.
Once again, not proof according to beliefs of individuals, but I think it's worth mentioning.
Among the Hope's Peak characters, Mukuro is the only one Tsumugi doesn't cosplay. Mukuro exactly disguised herself as Junko in DR1. Tsumugi did say "Cosplay isn't disguise". Mukuro's case pretty much counted as 'disguise'. Disguise is impersonating real people. But why does it matter? As well as Mukuro is a fictional character, Tsumugi possibly cosplay as her. It doesn't make sense Tsumugi didn't cosplay as Mukuro, or it proves a lie about Hope's Peak characters are fictional.
Cospox is mostly a lie she made up to bring out the audition tapes without suspicion. Why care to told Kaede to look away when she changed into her clothes? It was the girls bathroom, after all.
Tsumugi said 'a flawless copy', which likely she copied Junko's script, or at least Junko is real.
Just my general thought.
With something like an ultimate talent, its unclear what makes it actually ultimate. But everyone that has an ultimate talent at Hope's Peak used to not have an ultimate talent, in the sense that they had skills, but were not specifically recognised by Hope's Peak's talent scouts. These ultimates already had their skills, they didn't gain them by going to Hope's Peak. All they received from Hope's Peak was a kind of recognition for their talent. And then they received money and schooling to pursue their talent. There would be many people with great skill around the world not chosen to attend Hope's Peak. It looks like Hope's Peak had one class a year, so anyone not in the top 16 of an age group, according to Hope's Peak, is not an ultimate. But it doesn't mean that everyone not chosen by Hope's Peak is not highly skilled, or deserving.
Being an ultimate is a title given by Hope's Peak. People still have or don't have talents, irrelevant of Hope's Peak recognition.
According to evidence, being chosen by Hope's Peak means you had a talent recognized by them, at least they have a skill above "average". Two of the qualifications one must meet to enroll is "you must excel in all subjects." People who has no talent would enter Hope's Peak as reserve course students in the preparatory school. Makoto is a special case, he won the lottery to join the school as Ultimate Luck, being Luckster and Hope is also a form of talent. Of course, great-skilled people are scattered all over the world, not everyone would attend Hope's Peak and you can't find every single one of them.
