Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

What do you think Kodaka is telling us?
It's obvious from the ending that it's taking a jab at DR Fans.
Some people I know took it as an offence, while others see it as a commentary on fandoms in general.
So, what do you think Kodaka is trying to tell us with V3's ending?

It's not doing that at all. It's not taking a jab at the fans. Saying that it is misunderstands the ending. As for what Kodaka is telling us, the themes of the game are "fiction can change people/reality", Shuichi says as much in the final trial, and "the nature of truth vs lies", which is everpresent throughout the entire game, and is why the main rival of the game, Kokichi, is a liar, as well as why the game gives a hint that Tsumugi might have been lying at the end.

I don't think "obvious" is the right word. Rather "the conclusion that you arrive at with the least amount of thought put into it". I say that because it only has the appearance of breaking the 4th wall and speaking to the player directly. It does not actually do that though. Here is why:
1. Team Danganronpa, the creators of the Killing game show is fictional. It is made up by Kodaka and does not exist in real life. This means by saying that Team Danganronpa created 53 killing games just as the fans desired, it is therefore neither speaking about the *actual* creators of Danganronpa (Spike Chunsoft) nor about the *actual* fans.

2. We see DRV3 through the eyes of Shuichi, not K1-B0 who is actually controlled by the audience.

3. As such at no point is Shuichi saying: "Hey the one controlling me, stop doing that you are a horrible person!" Shuichi is within DRV3 an autonomous person influenced by fake memories but nonetheless autonomous.

4. The danganronpa series with DRV3 is a (interactive) TV show, not a video game. It is also said that the "outside world" is a peaceful paradise. Meanwhile in the real world a nuclear war is a real possibilty, while in other places there are "regular" wars and genocides going on, not to mention starvation, diseases etc. There is a clear difference between the "outside world" and the real world.

5. I think in general nothing about the ending is "obvious" and it is not intended to be. The entire game is centered around lies, furthermore before its realease it has been said that it would be the beginning of a new arc. I wouldn't expect the *beginning* of a new arc to leave no unanswered questions the next part.

To answer your question about the message: I think it is saying that killing games are only ok as long as it *stays* fiction. When it goes into reality that's whan you have to draw a line, no matter how many people would enjoy it or even volunteer for it. Also the actually obvious message: Fiction can affect reality.
I watched a lot dr streams and often there are people in chat theorizing how they be part of killing game and how they kill somebody in it. I think there was a massage to those people. Bunch of kids volunteer to be part of killing game because they watch the show and thought how cool it is. But guess what, actually being part of something like it is not fun at all. "Fiction can change the reality" and in drV3 world dr games change reality by turning fictional killing game into reality show. So in the end drV3 characters trying to change it and explain the world that killing games are not fun at all.
I think. there was no jab at dr fans or fandoms. What they trying to say is that people need to think more careful about parts of they favorite games\TV shows they would like to take into real life.
I think it's in a universe that had the Hopes Peak Saga as video games or anime or something, eventually they started using real people, because it drove the people to want despair. The person who's body is Suichi is real in the game, but the memories and personality were all created by Tsumugi who wanted to copy the Hopes Peak arc, that is likely why she put the whole gopher project in there, the Ulitmate hunt is how they recruit the characters for the show I beileve, they are chosen involintarly, since I think that Tsumugi faked the tapes, she is a copycat criminal who could just be lying about the other 53 seasons and copying it for the sake that she wants to be apart of the killing game, since she was obsessed with Hopes Peak.
I think he says that he got bored of writing a story and then hamfisted a self-insert that makes zero sense from a writing perspective and just killed off almost everyone so he no longer has to bother with any of it anymore, metaphorically killing off the franchise with a bang.

I'm getting Mass Effect 3 vibes.

You, my friend, are wrong. That's not even close to what was being done.
Then what do you think happened with the people who died? Since they are based of of people from the real world, they're still alive? And I wanna believe they are good people in the real world, since Tsumigi could have manipulated those videos about them being evil in the real world. I just don't want to believe they are a lost cause, because I love all the characters soo much.

Especially Tenko ....... ;(

That's not........ You do realize that the character's personalities were changed to their ones we see in the game, right? They're not "based off of people", they WERE those people. Like, physically the same people who's memories and personalities were changed. They're all dead.

Even though I do not believe it myself, there is the possibilty of the Ultimates existing in that world. The 14 students in the killing game were manipulated into thinking they are those Ultimates because for some reason Team Danganronpa could not get there hands on the originals. This would mean that cospox works as Tsumugi claims and she can not dress up as one of the 14 because the 14 Ultimase are real people, however the 14 participants are not the real Ultimates and merely dressed as them.
There is one other reason why that might be the case: Keade's twin. Assuming she actually has a twin, it is possible that her twin was the actual Ultimate Pianist and Kaede was just manipulated into thinking she was her twin sister.
This theory is lacking though, hence I do not believe it, but anyone can feel free to do so.
