Do you like Maki Harukawa?

As I understand Maki is the main female character of this game, which puts her in the same tier with Kirigiri and Chiaki. This time around Team Danganronpa decided to make less immediately loveable character (compared to Chiaki) and in the end not that many people even like Maki, it seems. Also people point out how her assasin talent is just to make her edgy. And often she acts like a jerk, but the rest of the cast doesn't care, even though she's as dangerous as Ouma. Sometimes she acts like she's smarter than she actually is. Maybe Maki x Kaito love is a bit too forced. But considering this is all allegedly fiction made up by writers, I don't know what to think.
In the end I don't dislike her, but I don't like her either. What do you think?

Sadly, we're not talking about Shuichi in the same context as Chiaki and Kyoko. That's to say, I thought Kaede was a great lead and was really anticipating how her forward-thinking, rallying attitude would play out within V3's storyline, particularly compared to the "golly, gee, gosh, I'm not sure what I'm doing" angle that Makoto, Hajime, and Komaru leaned toward in previous games. Of course, we all know how that turned out :-(

In any case, I like Maki as her character was portrayed within the V3 storyline. Though Chiaki is my favorite secondary lead in the Danganronpa series, Maki holds her own. My problem, as it is with the whole of V3, is the "everything is fiction" ending. The "Maki" that players got to know is not necessarily representative of who she actually is . For all we know, Maki may not even be her actual name. This is a barrier for me to maintain a lasting connection to Maki, or any character within V3 really for that matter.

I adore Maki, and one of the reasons for that is that she isn't as Mary Sue as Chiaki or Kyoko were. She made huge mistakes and is problematic in her views and demeanor. She isn't written to be your waifu, unlike Chiaki, Kyoko and Kaede.

I absolutely love her. Seriously she the my most loved character out of all Danganronpa.
And contrary to (apperently) many people, I liked her from the prologue onwards already, more so than Chiaki (who at first I barely noticed) and Kirigiri (who until chapter 5 I did not know whether to love or fear)

I loved Maki, but it's mostly because of her unique character development compared to most other characters in the series. And ultimately, that unique character development is what may make people dislike her compared to previous fan favourites.

Nothing against Kyoko or Chiaki but Maki had better development out of all three imo and was less of a Mary sue.

I wouldn't say Kyoko is a Mary Sue, she's not idealised by the cast enough, and she has her own share of character flaws (refusal to open up, emotionally distant, etc.)

Chiaki is a borderline case, but I'd say she's not quite a Mary Sue, since she has little impact on the early-game. DR3, however, put her squarely in the territory, but who cares about DR3?

Yeah, as cool as those two were, they did have that one flaw. Especially Kirigiri. She was basically the Ultimate Handholder in the first game.

Maki was okay. She was at least a more realistic, consistent, non-gimmick character than any of the other women in DRV3, except maybe Kaede.

Honestly, I think Maki was my most hated character in the game, next to Kaito and Shuichi. Now don't hate on me, I've got a stupid and unvalid reason, but one nontheless. My favourite character of the game was; from the very beginning, Kokichi. Like, when I saw him for the first time, I was like "You're gonna end up being my favourite character, now aren't you?". I was just really invested in his character and was very curious about his backstory (which, in the end, I didn't get), and when Maki tried to strangle him twice and undirectly caused his death, I was kinda pissed off.
Which is why Kaito and Shuich are my second and third most hated characters respectfully. They insulted him alot and they were always on Maki's side. I guess I was kinda mad that he got permanently hated on.
Also Maki's grand reveal about her talent didn't change a thing on my opinion about her. I don't know, I guess that's just how it is.
Also was never really fond of her from the very beginnig, guess she just didn't invest me in her character enough.

But I can totally see why people like her, I mean she had a big character developpement, plus I guess her talent kinda invested more people into her character. And I totally respect their opinion, even though I kinda hate her.

I don't like that reasoning solely because Kokichi deserved it. He is the best character in the game, no doubt, and easily my favorite, but to say that the people who insult him are bas even though they're entirely justified in what they say is, honestly, blind fanboyism. Kokichi is a disruptive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who constantly antagonizes the group. Regardless of his intentions in the end (which he had hidden from anyone), this is the truth, and ignoring that in favor of "No, stop picking on him" is, in my opinion, ridiculous.

Yeah, I know, that's why I said my reason was stupid. I guess I'm really just too attached to some characters. I didn't mean to offend anyone. And i can understand why people like Maki. I just don't. But maybe I also hate her because I don't like Tsunderes in general. Maybe because I'm not fan of her talent. Or because I just never got interested in her because I was paying more attention to other characters like Kokichi, Gonta, Tsumugi or K1-B0. Anyways, I'm really sorry for the stupid reason. Also, I'm a girl.
