Question about the lvl (or exp) to Soul Clarity exchange during soul transfer
I´ve found some useful knowledge about soul transfer, but I have not found anything that explains the exchange rate. I´m only curious about SC, not skills in this discussion.
I know you want to get a puppet to lvl 99 if you want to transfer the innate skills, but I am working on some builds that do not require the innate skills. At least not from every class they go through.
I made a soul transfer with a unit at lvl 72-75 with a soul clarity of 1 (can´t remember the exact level) and got a soul clarity of 11, so an increase of 10. Some time afterwards I tried a soul transfer with a lvl 54 unit with a Soul Clarity of 4 but I could see during the facet-selection phase, that his SC would only go up by 4, so I decided to wait.
I have done some comparison with the units I had today to see when the amount of SC would increase according to the unit´s lvl, for instance at lvl 68-70 the unit gets 9 SC and a unit at lvl 30 would only get 1 SC. So the formular for how much SC you per lvl is clearly not something simple as: X lvls get you Y Soul Clarity.
The higher lvl, the fewer lvl it takes before the amount of SC increases once again. But that does not necessary mean that doing a soul transfer at higher/max level gives you most SC for least amount of grinding, since the amount of exp required for each lvl-up increases with every lvl. Could it be, that the system measures the amount of SC given not by lvl, but by exp?
That brings me to my questions: Is there anyone who KNOW what the best level to soul transfer is, if you want the most amount of SC for the least amount of grind. I´ve seen people recommend doing soul transfers only at lvl 99, but is that really the most time efficient method, or is just because it is simpler and requires fewer soul transfers in total?
I hope someone can help me out.
Also, as far as I´ve understood, a unit´s current SC does not effect how much SC it will gain at the next Soul transfer. SC only effects stat gain and exp needed for leveling. Is that correct?

You have the right idea, SC will stay regardless of which level you transfer at, and going all the way to 99 is probably not the most time efficient purely for farming SC. However, that also depends on how fast you're gaining exp (i.e. where you are in the game), how long it takes you to perform the transfer, and if you can grind your units effectively when starting from a low level.

Personally I didn't bother grinding SC, since after transferring multiple innates you already end up with somewhere between 40-80. However, you can use this information to figure out the most effective method for you, or see if someone else wants to share their grinding strategy.

Thx a lot. That was exactly the kind of clarification I was looking for. It really helped making the last pieces fall into place for me. I did a blind a run of this game until I came to the 3 towers and the concept of soul transfer was thrown at me, and I started to feel bothered, because I found some of the in-game explanation to be lacking (plus some mis-translations according to the guide).
The guide also cleared things up about exp and weapon proficiency. I was wondering if exp was divided between all puppets or just covens, and it seems you can not go beyond S+ in weapons (even though skills and moon stance should enable you).
Once again, thank you. You saved me from a lot of unnecessary head scratching :)

soul clearity most likely works on exp not levels, higher levels need more exp meaning fewer levels = more clarity increase
