Basically you'll want to kill it as quickly as possible. I haven't really tried tanking the fire damage, from what I recall it just oneshots everyone that gets hit by it. The boss tries to shut you down in the first few turns, prepare to recover quickly from that so you can go full ham on damage.
Good pacts aside from Mezzaluca are:
Dusk - good stat bonuses and donum
Tractie's - for physical attackers
White Rose - highest donum damage
Furia's - for female units with high CHM
I have some weapons with 30-40% add abyss but it's very weak and it doesn't seems to affect him.
Seriously I don't get that boss even though I change all my strategy, I have a character with 82% fire resistance, still get one shot. I feel like this boss has static damage.
It also looks like Abyss won't actually stop most of its debuffs, but it does stop the flame attack.
For doing damage you have two primary methods.
First is fishing for gore crits by soul transferring Dismemberer and Reckless Blows from Gothic Coppelia, Heroic Stance from Demon Reaper, and Dual Blade Expert (and Tenacious Fingers) from Shinobushi. For weapons, pick ones that have add abyss on them and preferably other ailments too (I don't think the chance has to be that high), and synthesize high attack weapons into them. It's good to have at least a few units doing this since it's the only effective way to inflict ailments. Also reinforce offense as much as you're able, since it increases the crit chance.
The second is with donum damage, for which you'll want every unit in the coven to have Donum Master, and the ones in attacker slots having high DMP (Marginal Maze). I'd recommend having a Mad Raptor with crossbow and all their act speed increasing skills in one attacker slot, since it lets them activate the donum earlier in the turn. You can also reduce the opponent's elemental resistances, with Dusk pact and others. This will do respectable damage, but is not without risk. If any unit in the coven has abyss, their donum will be blocked. I also believe the overall power will be reduced if any of them is dead at the time of casting.
So a question to op is: mb you're underleveled / low equipment? I haven't beat post game yet, but just to give an example: against first post game boss, a puppet in Alice pact with 3700 def and 60-ish % fire resist recieves about 3200 fire dmg. After using "Eat Me" (greatly increases def) dmg dropped to single digit. It was done on nightmare.
You can try using these kind of donum, or donum that gives all buffs at ones (Supercharge, White Rose Champion and so on)
P.S. a boss does have exactly 1 million hp on normal, so one gore crit will deal 10% of it, which is huge, use reinforce offence to increase crit chance.
Then I guess the simplest option is to just grind up your soul clarity, which shouldn't take long with gold bitterns at azu-umbra. Though the boss does do that 50% attack and defense debuff, and there's no way to purge debuffs afaik which is kind of bs. I'm not sure if abyss will prevent it, but maybe using your own defense buff will be enough to offset it.
I think I had most units at around soul clarity 50-60 when I tackled that boss, and while I can't exactly say it went smoothly, it did go down pretty quickly. So it shouldn't be necessary to go all the way to 99 soul clarity.
With only gothic puppets.
I'm not a hardcore RPG gamer I'm not good with micro management. I didn't expect that when I bought the game. But thanks to my puppets, I finally finished the game. I don't know why but I would like they release labyrinth of galleria on steam.
Used 2 tractie pacts during fire phase. Reflected all the fire damage. 100k a pop on Nightmare mode. EZ.
