1. It´s a "soft" disgaea design, you level up to level 99, go back to 1, mix skills with different classes, and your base attributes will increase more after rebirth. Making it a Gentle world could possibly allow you to finish with base 99 level. But you will end being item dependant.
2. When getting random items in the ground, every map will have a different list (and we are not including equipment). Higher Rank means less chance of that item being obtained.
2b. Level difficulty does not seem to alter drops in any way, just gives more Mana and Mana costs when using a Witch Bell or a Fog Exit are more reduced. This translates in higher base drop rate (More accumulated Mana while exploring map > Higher Drop).
3. There IS a limit, mostly due to equipment. Swords will have a lower limit to stats other than ATK, HIT or strength, but the most important part is equipment rarity. Meaning, legendary swords can be upgraded a lot more. Best equipment would be Alchemy whites into Whites, then Star Whites into Blue, Then Star Blues into Green, Then Star Green Into Orange, and finally, Star Oranges into best Orange... Drops will be annoying though.
4b. CONS of dual wield would be stopping resonance (seconds and group attacks do not resonate (bad design in my opinion), second attack does not go to a second enemy, not being 100% proc you can be unlucky and not procing it 3 times in a row, does not seem to stack with Crossbow Salvo (one or the other, not both).
5. MOST two handed weapons attack enemy groups (exceptions in Lamps), it should be displayed in the equipment description together with range. That means that depending on dungeon, it is better to attack a group with a two handed weapon (swords and scythes come to mind), than 1-2 attacks to a lonely enemy.
6. If you have a very charged up DPS character, it can help give you an extra edge.
Imagine this, you have a character with 1000 ATK and an enemy with 500 DEF. After basic skills and spells buffs, that character will end with 2000 ATK, then would do 1500 damage (more if critic) if you reinforce him 3 times, total ATK should end around 3500, against 500 DEF means 3000 damage instead... Personally, I don't use it except in specific circunstances, to big a waste of Reinforcement.
6b. Also mention that if you reinforce a unit in the menu, you will heal them (not many people notice this).
7. There is a limit to base stats (I believe it is 9999), but increased stats can be extra increased thanks to skills and unless you pull a very specific build (with equipment and so) you should stay around 6000-7000 in base stats. (someone could correct me if I am wrong).
8. For farming items, there are COVENs that increase drop rate (Manania, Treasure, Furia come to mind), with which you can easily end with a 100% drop chance. That means that any enemy will always drop an item. Some items are easier to farm since enemies always drop the same, but are mostly RANDOM (very)... so farming equipment can be annoying, more so if you are going for a specific piece.
The game makes it kind of obnoxious how the same boss can drop a common sealed item or the mother of gods sealed named legendary item with triple the main stats and double the rest...
Also, If you want good exp covens, once reaching the Island with the helmet girl, if you reach the mana limit and navigate to the second floor with sanctified grounds in which a lot of enemies are white eyed (those enemies that increase your karma if you kill them). That would make Lord Pinya (Heaps of Exp 1 Coven) to spam more instead of Reapers. If you are lucky, you may be able to find a Great Duke Pinya and if you are even more lucky, get the Heaps of Exp 2 Coven.
