"Critical Gore" / One-Shot
Sitting here trying to figure out why I got insta-gibbed by a lone Onion in the starter labyrinth. Is this something that's going to happen often? It makes no sense for an enemy to go from doing 8 damage to 160, lmao. "Onion struck your head, you died!" Well okay.

Anyone else had this happen?

If the enemy destroys the head of the puppet then it is an instant death yes.
But in order for that to happen there needs to be several different enemies that all hit the head over and over again.

Also later on you will have around 20 puppets

I guess I'll just shrug it off for now. It seemed like a bizarre mechanic to run into at the very start of the game, especially when I had no way to heal that unit. I must've gotten really unlucky or something for it to happen after 5 battles.

You will also be able to do some crazy numbers with gore hits.

Also, yeah, you got really unlucky with the headshot, that's the worst outcome.

pretty sure it only happens in the beginning labrynth for the tutorial purpose. I havnt had it since the tutorial popped about it.

it happens a lot in the beginning dungeon and is very costly. I save very often because I can't really seem to find a solid way to make money yet.

You got incredible unlucky, I'm at the 5th dungeon and I haven't recieved a single head gore (I have taken a lot of the rest of them though)

Perhaps it was a named onion? Named monsters can spawn at a low chance (they also have a slightly different animation and sound effect upon appearing in battle; you can check by checking their name) and have higher stats. Not saying normal onions can't crit gore, but named monsters are more likely to actually land such hits.

Its part of the tutorial to force you into learning how to repair them.
the one i got broke my knights legs though, not the head.

My tank on my first proper run got her right arm cleaved off by a vicous wallnut enemy. Thankfuly it was the tank so all she had to do was defend and provoke the enemies while the other two guys in the party deal with the enemies.

Speaking of badass vegatables, just wait til you get to the 4th dungeon...

Is there anything later in the game that makes this (including arm/leg/etc gores) less annoying? The thought of needing to schlep it all the way back out of a maze to repair every time this randomly occurs throughout the game really makes me not want to keep playing.

Or, is there a quicker way to TP in and out of a dungeon later?

You are supposed to switch a supporter puppet in when an attacker loses a part. Or just ignore missing an arm or a leg, eventually you'll have 10+ puppets so if one of them is a bit broken it's no big deal.

Oh and you'll unlock Mud Exits too which indeed make teleporting out and back in trivial if you absolutely need to repair a doll.

Does having 10 puppets mean you have to grind twice as long to level them to the same level as having 5 puppets? Or is there no XP downside to having more characters?
TheBlindReaper Sep 30, 2018 @ 8:12am
from what i know abt how xp is shared, the Total EXP is Shared among Covens which then each character get's their own seperate EXP based on the % stated in the Slot. So the best way to 'increase' EXP sharing would be to have less Covens

E.g

150k EXP from Stockpile. 5 Covens in Party
150k divided to 5 Covens so each Coven get's 30k
If the Coven has EXP Modifiers such as Symbiote, Attackers will get 5% of 30k or 1.5k, while the Leech get's 350% of 30k or 105k EXP
