If PVP is your primary concern it may be better to wait until the game has released and find out how it is doing.

I'd be surprised if you can find anyone playing PVP in the PS4 version after a few weeks.

It's unlikely that cheating will be an issue given the genre and primarily single player focus. Controller support will probably be fine, though we can't say for sure yet. Play it on whatever you prefer or ask again after it comes out and people can answer based on hands on experience.

As someone who mistakenly bought Mordhiem on Xbox as well as PC, I can say that the console version of that game was really unsupported and a much weaker port then teh PC version. It was as if they took the lowest settings of the game and just ported that rather then trying to make the game as good as they could. I would say stay away from console version altogether.
Or better yet, seeing this is on sale all week, and there is no reason to get early except that saving, then why just wait. Then you can compare the two, you will find hundreds (maybe dozens and i am being overzealous) of videos on the game in the next day or two for both console and pc. Then after seeing the footage make choice then.

You shouldn't buy games on consoles unless it's nintendo or you can't afford a decent PC to run them. Consoles are cheap PCs at 30 fps with crappy res and overpriced games, and you have to pay a sub to play online. Especially when talking about an indie game it is absolutely discouraged to buy it on a console.
