the campaign is not that bad , the cosmetics are not that good
I was able to actually mess around with cosmetics (hair styles specifically) earlier than completion of the campaign, without having to do this trick. It seems that either they unlock gradually over time (With almost all of them being unlocked by say mission 10 at the latest), or there is a misconception on what exactly is unlockable based on an assumption that just because the Leader's hairstyles are locked, the rest of the hair styles must also be locked.
When you finish campaign mode, you get the ability to use masks (all gangers) and an extra hair style for the leader only. Orlock gets a shoulder armor thing instead of an extra hair style (And Orlock Ganger Leaders have no hair style restriction like the other two gangs do). It is not a huge benefit tbh, but I guess if you like the extra options, great. The only major thing that you will get visual benefit from is the masks tbh, and as Jano said, the cosmetic enhancements aren't really a huge deal.
However, I also want to add that the cosmetics that are allowed for the game seem to be based on the same cosmetic options that you typically get from the miniatures line from GW. At least to a degree, and ultimately the FEEL of the cosmetic options is pretty much modeled on that aspect of the miniature TT game. Even the choices for color options are kinda modeled on common usage of the painting process: Pick 3 colors and a wash, and then go to town. You can spend more time making each body segment have different colors, but if you want to create a uniform look to the gang, this is pretty much how it is done in painting the models.
I kinda thought that was a neat thing they did in keeping true to the miniatures game, even if it isn't a huge part of the game or even entirely a true and accurate representation. Would I like more hairstyles (Particularly those as seen in the loading screens for some of the gangers)? Yep. But as is, it feels a lot like kitting out your gang like you would on the TT.
Gameplay discussion aside, I like this one single aspect of the game a ton. Brings the nostalgia feels.
You don't!!
Only thing locked is 2 gas masks and 1 hairstyle for your Goliath leader.
Escher gets 2 gas masks and 1 hairstyle for leader
Orlock get 2 gas masks and 1 arm pouldron.
All other hairstyle options (and other customisation options) are unlocked from the moment you very 1st hit play!
Honestly, for me at least, the unlocks are pretty lame and no where near as good as the customisation options that are already available to you. Only ones I've used are Escher leader hairstyle and Goliath gas mask.
People make a big deal of this, yet the unlock offers such minimal extra content it's not even worth worrying about.
Hey lighthead, hey christmas tree!
Made me laugh, classic Arnold.....also one of my favourite films
