"The Cult of the Second Son is a Genestealer Cult native to the Hive World of Necromunda. Its genesis infestation was located in Hive Secundus, the second major hive city of the planet. The "Second Son" in the cult's name is a reference to its city of origin."
I just wanted something a bit different, the new trailer looks solid though, fingers crossed for DLC.
Considering Necromunda has another 3 gangs that need to be released as DLC before the game is "complete" according to the original GW table-top version, I'm struggling to believe that they'll ever get around to genestealers sadly. Not unless the game is far more successful than Mordheim somehow.
Maybe we'll see one-off genestealer hero DLCs? Or maybe GW will let them by-pass some of the original gangs and go straight to the aliens... who knows?
I think its fairly likely the game will be more popular than Mordheim. If the MP aspects are better done and the SP endless mode has good legs the setting is far more evocative and popular than MH was. Even the TT versions MH was always the ginger stephchild compared to Necromunda.
I don't think thats a foregone conclusion by any stretch of the imagination. You've got to keep in mind that there were hundreds (even thousands, really) of players that bought Mordheim, tried it out and didn't like it - because they left negative reviews, many of which slated the whole RNG and strategy aspects of the game. But those were sales nevertheless.
Necromunda sounds like its going to be very much in the same vein as Mordheim (so far as anyone can tell from the marketing material we've seen to date). So the question is: are those people who bought and hated Mordheim likely to also buy Necromunda from the same developers? If not, then its entirely possible that Mordheim might outsell Necromunda when all's said and done.
Maybe they will, maybe they won't, or maybe it will attract a whole new crowd due to its futuristic vibe. We just don't know.
Thats why I used the words 'I THINK' and 'FAIRLY LIKELY' rather than stating it as a fact
I'm merely basing my opinion (and thats all it is) on evidence that setting wise NM was always more popular than MH. Its a fairly niche game anyway (MH) and most of the playerbase have at least a passing knowledge of WH and GW, so its fair to assume the player base for NM will share the general trend we see in the physical TT versions, namely that the 40k or futuristic settings nearly always outperform their WFB counterparts. I would say the same for any comparison like this, if CA made a Total War game based on 40k I would bet good money it would outsell WHTW (I mean this won't happen as they don't do futuristic settings but as a hypothetical example)
That was all I based that on, my point was most of the people who played and liked MH will buy it, and the people who loved NM but didn't like Mordheim will buy it and statistically there are more people who liked NM than MH thats just a reality.
Now if the game is garbage or handled badly it absolutely might underperform compared even to MH but assuming the game is of at least a similar quality level I maintain it will very likely outperform MH just based on the setting alone
The devs have mentioned before that a lot of the decision-making for their previous game with regards to lore etc came down from Games Workshop - they seem to have a big say in what can and can't be done with their franchise. So don't be surprised if the DLC all end up being the core gangs and nothing more.
Palanite enforcers is another one that I definitely think would be fun.
Really would like to see the brutes for palanite enforcers, and corpse grinders too (they currently don't have their own)
