Anybody playing the default character Melody
I thought about it since I wanted to play a bard anyway. And Melody is a cool name especially for a Bard.

I am. I did in the beta too.
I got an achievement for keeping her as default so there's that too.

I am, though I really wanted to play as a monk and it doesn't seem to be an option as of now, but I have a quest which leads me to believe I might find Palidan or cleric classes.

Yeah, I'm using Melody for my first playthrough. I always use the NPCs InXile or Obsidian make when playing their games, for the first time, becuase those studios put such great effort into making some really charming and memorable NPCs.

Then if I play a second time, I min/max like a little munchkin and use custom characters for everything =)

We'll be curious to see who picks the default characters vs. making their own. :steamhappy:

It would be an easier decision if you didn't do such terrible character portraits for custom ones. Killed much of my excitement for making my own party.

It feels kinda unfair tbh. Like, on one hand you want to play the class you want to play, on the other you don't want to throw away a perfectly cute character. Would have been WAY better if you could just pick her class.

I rolled my own. I just... had to go with the Volatile Female voice! There's nothing like an angry drunken bard.

Does it add anything to the story playing as her?

That's what I`m wondering also.

Your main character talks... a bit. Are Melody's line the same as your created character?

I made an elven bard, will be specking for warchanter, and mean drunk.
Maybe Rabble rouser if i have the skill points.

In the original I always replaced El Cid so I could "participate" in the goings on. Here, as well as in the beta, I am currently sticking with the premades. No idea if that will last because I am really not a fan of this new take on dorfs, at all.

Is it really the case that all elves are female, and all the other cultures are male? (Unless you're Melody?)

I feel like I must be missing something.

It's true that all elven models in character creation are female, though.

Gender is fixed for the non-human races. Human races, just roll through the portraits, you'll find this also changes gender.
