But if you want to build the most well rounded party you can right out the gate, i'd suggest keeping Melody the bard or making a bard in character creation at the start of the game. The first 3 adventurer's you recruite are a Rogue, a Fighter, and a Practitioner. Starting with a bard is a good way to get a taste of everything.
Yeah theres quests for the companions, and the party banter differs based upon who you have with you. So far I'm pretty impressed with the chatter. The only thing is some spots trigger the same catch phrase every time you walk by it. Hopefully they fix that in the real game.
