Cog puzzle Skara Brae below

Ok, so I've managed to smash all the enemies so far and found a cog wheel puzzle with a place to use a grappling hook near it. Climb that and you can barely make out another anchor point for a grappling hook behind that door.

The problem is I can't seem to solve that puzzle! I've tried for ages and just can't see a way to solve it. The cog I need to make spin moves together with a cog on the oposite end of the puzzle, and whenever I get that in the right position, the arm with the cog that will connect it to the spinning one is always blocked from connecting....

The spinning wheel is at the bottom with the one you need to spin just to the right of it. In the middle is the cog with the arm...

Hope I described it clearly enough. Anyone know how that one is supposed to be possible?

If it's the one I think it is, I did manage it eventually. I got the connector arm halfway over to the left and then spent ages moving the other cogs around in combination before it was freed up to slide fully down, purely by trial and error.

I too am now stuck on this insidious puzzle....I for the life of me, can't seem to manuever the cogs into the right locations, to get this to work? Is there a video or something of someone completing this puzzle?

solved it. it was a matter of getting the swinging cog to catch in the right spot.

Yes, this cog puzzle is a booger! I accomplished all the others but this clearly takes a careful positioning of the swing arm. I do not want to say how long I've been working on this one!!
