Harkyn's Castle Chess
I don't know anything about chess, does somebody here have the solution for the puzzle?

"Three knights of chess, their hooves impress. The first trots four, ends as before. The next does roam, four back to home. The last ran seven. Now pray to the heavens."

Its related to the only way a horse can move on a chess board

I really don't understand chess, trying to figure it out is becoming really difficult for me. But I'm still trying.

A horse can only move 2tiles forward and 1 across. It can do this in any direction thou.
If you look at the picture below the knights possible moves this turn is into any red square.

Can you possibly explain what it means by "trots four, four back, ran seven"?
Ravager of Souls Sep 22, 2018 @ 3:29pm
The first trots four, ends as before.

refers to the first horse makes 4 moves and ends up where it started from.

Has anyone actually solved this puzzle? I am stuck on it atm and its driving me crazy. I get the concept, I think, but none of the actual combinations I am trying work. If you have solved it and can give a hint beyond the chess move hint that would be great.

This is actually the first puzzle I couldn't solve on my own as most of them are simple enough. Feeling stuck and frustrated with it and will probably have a duh moment when I get help or figure it out. If I try to follow the logic of the chess moves, it just gets crazy as tiles change over each other and I am confused on the second horses as to where they start from, if not at "home". The whole thing is weird and I don't think it's as complicated as I am sure I am making it...*tries not to throw things and hopes someone can help*

Guys, how do you get in the castle, what item do you sacrifice?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Any explanation for this solution? I know how a knight moves...

The 4x99 beserkers fight after the puzzle is ridiculously easy but gives a ton of XP. Very worth doing.

I honestly don't understand it either, the white and black tiles seriously throw me off but now I'm thinking their color is irrelevant.

Tile color is irrelevant. There are three unmovable tiles: those are the start points for the three horses right next to them. Horse "M" moves 4 times around the board to get home, ditto F, seven times for N like in the poem.
