We just have to hope that the complaints get them to fix a lot of these glaring issues or just wait for the Director's Cut that they will release next year that should have all these upgrades.
If I start playing this game with a female portrait, then they add the missing male portraits later, I guess I'd have to restart the game (because you choose the portrait on character creation)?
Maybe a clever modder can add (aka fix!) some portraits? ;-)
It's not that it wasn't spotted, I have specifically reported this several times during beta. It's just that the developers didn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about beta feedback. As I'm playing, I notice more and more bugs I've reported are still in the game.
Sad to hear that. Maybe I'll hold off playing the game for a bit, maybe they'll patch it.
Overall though, apart from the bugs, are you enjoying the game?
human mages look like full plate warriors. some classes have no matching portrait at all.
non-humans are basically gender locked.
everyone looks ugly.
i mean i dont understand how they could do such a poor job with a game that is heavy on creating your own character/party.
Yeah there's basically two things you need to get right for a dungeon crawler; character customization and the dungeons/puzzles. How you could fail on the first one is beyond me since that's literally the easiest part.
I agree. I'm no graphic artist but aren't 2d portraits relatively easy compared to the 3d modelling, UI etc?
I'm still not playing the game, just have a weird problem playing a male elf who looks like a female.
Don't think so. They can purchase cheap 3D assets from the asset-store and mess around with them (in InXile's case, actually making them uglier than ugly), but talented 2D artists aren't that easy to come by.
The cool animated portraits were one of the most memorable things about Bard's Tale for me, so needless to say, I'm very disappointed about the current state of things.
