Whither Jason?
I'm currently playing The Wedding Present episode from the Zeus and Europa adventure at Hero level. I need Jason to turn up in order to defeat the Talos. Now, I built Jason's Hall and managed to accumulate all the things Jason wants (3 triremes, 2 horseman companies, 64 crates of food, 8 horses and 16 amphore of wine). Then I went to Jason's Hall and was able to summon him. A message tells me that Jason is on his way to the city. He must be taking his time because that was fifteen years ago and I'm still waiting for him to arrive.

I've tried demolishing the Hall and rebuilding it in is original position and also in a different location but he's still on his way, apparently. Verifying the files hasn't encouraged him to arrive either. Where on earth is he?

Scratching my head in bafflement. Any suggestions as to what to do next?

What I did from time to time with quests that required killing a monster was using my own armies instead of summoning heroes. It was much easier building a ton of settlements and recruiting rabble than to build a hero's hall and meet all those requirements. I'm not sure if that is possible too in this mission or that Jason is an actual requirement. I clearly remember beating him with rabble though.

Many thanks, Koowluh. In the end I restarted the episode and Jason made it to the city this time. But what you say is interesting and I'll bear it in mind if a similar situation arises in the future. An enormous rabble throwing stones; that's got to be worth watching!

I used a bunch of watchmen for one episode. I created a huge area made only of road tiles, and put like a dozen or a couple of dozen watch towers (I can't remember how man) around the edge.
And when the monster appeared it took them a good ten minutes or so to kill it (I think it was Ares dragon), but kill it they did.

I think have had a bad start or two with some episodes where the hero doesn't appaer or some other thing isn't working in the scenario. It's a pain, but restarting is your best option.

Also check to see that you don't have anything block the roads or access to his hall.

Another imaginative way to deal with monsters, Duck Twacy. People's recourcefulness often surprises me.

I tried the same thing again during an invasion, but it didn't work quite so well. They simply aren't as strong as regular rabble or hoplites.

You must have horses at a vendor delivered to the elite housing when they request horses.
