Zeus or Pharaoh? Which shoud I get?
So back in the day I played the heck out of Pharaoh and I loved it. I never played Zeus but according to Wikipidia it came out after Pharaoh. So I am wondering if it is better, you know, more features, better campaign, better graphics etc.
How is the monument building in Zeus? There was something so satisfying to finish building a great pyramid. Is war better or worse?

So let me know your thoughts,
thanks

The god/hero will spawn at the monument and walk around your town making miracle or be your soldier. Also, some monument (Hades Temple) will spawn natural resource that you can mine/farm,etc.

Pharaoh is more difficult and has a slightly more atmospheric setting, because... well, because Egypt. Also, monument building in Pharaoh is much more complex, hence the feeling of accomplishment when you finish a pyramid is more evident.

Zeus is easier, much more polished, funnier, but strangely enough, there are some animation and slowdown issues that you're more likely to experience while playing this game, even though it's the newer of the two (you can check my review for the workaround if you get it).

Lastly, I'd get both titles, seeing as they are on sale until 2.1.2017.

Really, get both of them.

I bought the bundled option here on steam, it costed me about 3-4€ roughly because I already owned the Ceasar games. The games are definetly worth it.

I would actually rebuy them anywhere. Also bought them on GOG before, but I am happy to have them on Steam now.

I would get both. I still prefer Pharaoh though.

I ended up just getting Pharaoh and had a lot of fun with it. BTW if anyone is still looking for Emperor ROTMK I found it on GoG for under $4

I believe that Zeus-Poseidon is a far easier and more simplified game. Pharaoh-Cleopatra is grander and more complex. Zeus-Poseidon adds more world interaction and a more interactive mythology (heroes, monsters etc.), but the city-building is easy and simple compared to pharaoh and Caesar 3.

My own preference is Pharaoh, which I would count as one of my favourite games ever. I have no account of how much time I spent on that in the first decade of this millennium, but it must rank among the top 5 cames to take up my time ever. Part of it is due to the Nile inundiations which add a nice touch, but the gameplay is also the most interesting and fun.

As second, I'd actually take Emperor, which is very similar to Pharaoh, just set in China and without the Inundiations. Let's hope that'll be coming to Steam sometime, too.

That said, all 4 of the classic City Builder Series games (the last one being Caesar) are great. I only just discovered just now that Zeus and Pharaoh have become available on Steam, and I immediately had to get one, now that I can play them without having to do that CD inserting. I guess that makes me lazy, but there it is, and it also makes this the first time that I bought a game of Steam that I already had on another platform. The reasons I got Zeus first is that it's the one I've played the least, and it actually have a few campaigns I haven't been through (while I've played through everything in Pharaoh and Emperor several times)... and, well, let's face it, that it's on sale right now ;)
Absolutely Pharaoh! I am sure I say this from behind some rose-tinted 90s goggles but Pharaoh was simply never bettered in my opinion. That said if you prefer Ancient Greek mythology etc you may prefer Zeus. Pharaoh is more historical and more difficult, much like Caesar III, which is my second favourite city-builder.
