Widescreen Resolution Patch
Assuming that the Steam release has not been updated, there is no native support for newer widescreen resolutions.
There is however a set of fan-made patches for this, and some of the other Impressions Games series.

Patches for both Zeus & Poseidon[www.wsgf.org] are available from the Widescreen Gaming Forum.

To use the patch, replace the default Zeus.exe in the game directory, and the images in the Data directory, with the files that corresponds to your desired resolution, and then select 1024x768 resolution in-game.

This is not my patch, though I've played with it, I'm providing the information hoping somebody finds it useful.

The mirror links may be down, but the files hosted on WSGF are available.

So is the Steam version of Zeus/Poseidon the same as GoG? 2.1.4.0? It might not work if if the version on Steam is different.

I'm thinking of buying the game, but the whole widescreen patching is a real headache.

Just put the resolution you want it in your Zeus + Poseidon map and change your resolution to 1280x720, if i remember correctly.

Yep, fix works great.

Did it just make it super zoomed out for you? I'm sure the Caesar "fix" didn't do this, it had the same level of zoom as the normal game except it was no longer stretched? Maybe I'm wrong tho.

Pretty sure you'll see this same visual effect in all of these games. The sprites are small, so when you increase the resolution they will all seem smaller on the screen as the sprites are not being scaled.

Fair enough, must've just been my memory serving me wrong then. Thanks

Pharaoh's one is the worst for it. Everything is so small. Would be nice if they zoomed in a bit more but gave us the 1920x1080 screenspace

I cannot get to my game options to set the resolution, most of the buttons are off screen, is there a way to do it using the game files or do you have to be in game?

Try Clicking to the top left of the screen to get the menu, as far to the top-left as you can possible move the mouse to. You should activate the one of the menu options. Once you get the display option, change your resolution to the 1024X768, and the game should now show in the resolution you saved to the Zeus folder. It worked for me and i hope it works for you too.
