Gods won't appear?

At first I figured this might be the infamous slow-God bug (and it still might be?), but the speedhack fix did nothing to actually fix it so far as I can tell. Basically, whenever the Gods are set to appear.... they don't. Sort of.

They actually do appear on the map, invisible, but if I right click around where the green dot is, they sometimes pop up/speak to me. But that's it. They never seem to finish appearing. So God attacks, blessings (maybe not all, but definitely SOME), etc. just completely fail to work. Is there any kind of patch that might fix this, or am I out of luck and just going to need to play without any real God involvement at all?

Any word on this being corrected? The spawn time on the God's and their animations take a long time.

any chance you have been using cheat engine or tabbing in and out of the game a lot?
you need to completely purge the game from your computer and reinstall it. now when i say purge i dont mean uninstall it and reinstall it. i mean, delete every single file from every location on your computer. just uninstalling it and reinstalling it might not fix it.

the older games dont like being messed with and easily break so you gotta be careful about editing / tabbing. i had this error when i was using cheat engine to get easy monies and speed up building cities but then the gods suddenly broke and as they would spawn on temples or the palace it can ruin a run as they spawn into a space and get stuck there preventing you from building in that spot.

i dont own the game through steam, i have it on cd.

Played through the first adventure without a hitch. Doubt you'll get it to run in widescreen though.
