If this truly does not work maybe compensate health by replacing one merchant with healer perhaps?
Havent gotten that far yet so i couldnt say much.
--> I had my hp and damage relics at ~30 while dodge and crit were at max (25 / 15).
I started at 690 with 1 healer (first spot) and 4 fighters. The healer got one job: bring the figher to the boss with max life if possible. You can easily beat the boss with 4 warriors if you can do some nice crits and dodge several of his attacks (assassins dagger, ninja armor etc.).
To be honest: one fighter died at floor 699, so I had to beat him with only 3 warriors. They got some lucky dodges and did about 700 damage crits each. The boss itself only got 13000 health and can't heal.
Fight manually if your crit chance and damage is decent; the piledriver attack will probably do less damage. The healer doesn't need mana potions etc since he fights only for 9 floors (and turn 1 on the 10th); I think I used a holy cannon or the confuse gem on it. I'm not sure, but I think my fighters had evade potions or those glasses (you can steal them from rare lobsters - the one with sunglasses - at the floors x40 - x59, especially in the lair of despair. I'm talking about those lobsters on feet, not those on a plate).
