It's something we may choose to explore in the sequel, but it's still not exactly at the top of my list. First, online features take a LOT of work to implement, and test. The features you're describing would take months of work. What makes online tough is that you have to write a separate server-side program just to handle the most basic of requests. Then if you want to test you have to load up two copies of the game, connect them each to the server, and *then* test the new feature you're working on. Lastly, if your traffic is anything near substantial you may have to pay to run said server. And if you don't keep up proper maintenance you can lose players due to lag, server downtime, etc.
But! With all of that aside, I'm not too convinced that online play is the best fit for Soda Dungeon. It's just a game that strikes me as an offline experience. Once you reach higher levels of gameplay, there's not much need to trade for an item. You'll eventually find 99 of everything. Level your relics high enough and you probably won't need help to pass any certain floor. If a group of players enter a dungeon and all turn on autocombat, aren't we just sort of a fancy chat room at that point?
That being said, I could see a hybrid type of experience- maybe something similar to what clicker heroes does with "guilds." (are they still called that?) Online play in the sense that you contribute to a group "questing" effort, but you are not actually playing together in real time.
Anyway, what does everyone else think?
